Central locking not working even after battery change...

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My central locking stopped working a while ago, first one key, then the second a while later. Which would suggest the battery's have gone.

However I've replaced the battery with a new one and still nothing (tried re coding the keys but getting nothing whatsoever.

What else could it be?

The only thing I can think of is the keys aren't getting charged anymore, or the receiver has given up?

Anyone has this and found a fix?

Thanks

Alan

I'm pretty sure the battery cannot be simply changed on the diamond keys. When they stop working it's a matter of replacing the whole key, although I could be wrong?

I've replaced them in my diamond key too.

I assme you used the correct battery?  (Panasonic VL2020)

Once that's done, there should be no reason why it wouldn't work, after you do the programming procedure (You have to do all keys at the same time, consecutively)

There are a number of different procedures on the net for programming them..... only the correct one works ;)

This worked for mine:

1. With both keys, get in the car and close all windows and doors.

2. Put Key into the ignition and turn to position 1

3. Turn the key back to position 0 and take the key out of the ignition.

4. Hold down the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times, and release the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock.

5. Quickly, with the next key, hold down the unlock button and press the lock button 3 times and let go of the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock - do with all keys,

Done!

Remote control uses the same receiver as radio, antenna on the rear window and receiver/antenna amplifier on C-pillar. Connection from antenna amplifier to General module.

For test purposes you can use any BMW diamond key remote. So if possible test with someone else´s 100% working remote before further investigation.
