Sport bumpers (especially rears) seem to be very hard to come by I've found, have you looked at the aftermarket bumpers? I had one on my 330d and it was a good fit and decent quality. :)

I've managed to find one hopefully picking it up this week :) if not it will be an aftermarket bumper :)

Just done the beast’s handbrake.

Failed the MOT for inefficiency. Seized adjuster sorted. Shoes rubbed down, inside of disc/drum abraded. Stops well now. Back for a retest with it all sorted next week, before the original MOT expires.

For a 20 year old car, she’s not in bad fettle really!

Just as aside. The exhaust is original, I think, and there are several redundant parts. Typically where twin pipes exited.

Hmmm. Thinks to self, how easy would it be to put pipes into the redundant boxes etc and improve the gas flow.

After all, an engine has to both breathe in and out. Making that easier might reap rewards. Hmmmmm

Met up with @stu08 and was very pleased to pick up a complete set of pre-facelight, new old stock headlights and tail lights for my saloon. When I bought it, it came with facelift units applied which arguably do look better but I had an itch to turn it back to "original" styling. Fitted the lights in the (ludicrous) wind earlier and really pleased with how she looks now though need a couple of gaskets for headlights all of which seem to be available variously from BMW for not much money.

Will get a picture at some point with the new old lights installed!

Coming along nicely there. You don't hang around do you when you say your going to sort something.

Haha no... The cooling system is not something I’d hang around with though TBH. There was slight play in the water pump. Thankfully the rad was replaced in early 2015; the date was on a sticker on the top of the rad

Jim - You've removed the Hella halos?! And the tail clusters weren't original at build, I replaced them a couple of years back, but were 'right' I think?

Yep! :) interesting about the tail lights though... need to do some reading up on what should be correct for that year. Hmmmm.... for now I have on red with amber indicator tail lights and really liking how it looks. Just need to see about amber side repeaters now to complete the look!

The car came new with clear indie lenses, part of the Sportpack IIRC.

Car is going in to a specialist today for:

- Oil change

- Coolant flush

- Diff oil change

- Gearbox oil change

Along with the coil packs, plugs and air filter which I did earlier in the week.

I'd usually do oil change myself, but injured my lower back at the gym 5 weeks ago, and am on the path to a 3 month recovery.

Ahhhh... so it would have been the pre facelift front lights but with the clear indicators. Then the white tail lights and side repeaters. Hmmmm..... looks like I need to give the lighting package on the car some more thought. I might just try the amber look for a bit just for a change, and then look to fix it to be correct.

2 days ago - Sent my larger brake callipers to be painted red.

Yesterday - Ordered brake pistons and seals for the above-mentioned callipers from Bigg Red.

Unfortunately thought I'd do a quick couple of leg presses on a leg press machine. Being 6'5 I made the ultimate mistake of lowering the sled too far down, curved my spine slightly as I pushed up and that was that. Won't be doing that again anytime soon.

Yeesh; yeah, not good.

Stick to squats, much better for you ;)

At 6ft 4 myself; appreciate not being able to fit into most machines; my width goes against me too

^_^

I'm due to give that a going over soon. I've been noting down everything I've done / had done since acquiring the car, but not yet updated the folder and the spreadsheet. Will get that sorted soon!

Fitted brand new A and C pillar sport trims and rear reading lights to my new project. Also changed the aluminium effect trim for high gloss grey.

Full service done today too.

Wrapped up the headlight and taillight install.. needed to order the 'headlight repair kit' from BMW which included the rubber strip across the top and the foam gasket along the side of the driver side headlight as both were missing on one of them, and also new gaskets for the tail lights.. both relatively cheap thankfully.

I have to say, I'm really pleased with how they look though I think I'll keep all the lights I removed just for the time being, in case I have a change of heart.

I think I managed to cure an intermittent bulb warning which kept coming up on the driver side rear light cluster as well.. quick blast of electrical contact cleaner on the plug and the bulb holder and the warning light didn't re-occur when I started it and tested all the lights work, so that was good :)

Had a few other jobs I wanted to tackle (new pre-facelift grilles, refurbished M5 arm rest yet to install) but again the relentless wind, and then also cutting my thumb (which wouldn't stop bleeding) made me just give up after the headlights were reinstalled!
