CarPlay, calling & iOS 15

Recommended Posts

Hi

just wondering if anyone else having problems since upgrading to their iPhone to iOS 15?

1. calls only come through front centre speaker

2. Amazon music app - unable to connect

those are the ones I’ve noticed so far.

My car has iDrive 7 and I'm using the apple carplay to connect. I haven't noticed the issue with calls. I don't use amazon music so can't comment on this but other music playing is normal for me.

Hi q96169we,

Thanks for the response.

I'm iDrive 6, should have put that on the original post.

After further testing of this, several attempts to remove phones and re-pair I managed to get sound from front speakers only now. Streaming from my music on the phone is working fine as is streaming from Youtube.

My other phone (setup as a 2nd phone in iDrive) is a Samsung and only connected via Bluetooth is having the same problem. Sound only from front speakers.

Also confirmed with another IOS14.7.1 iPhone XR sound via front speakers only.

Did not test the Amazon music any further.

I seem to have lost all Bluetooth connectivity between my iPhone and my G31 - can’t even delete and recreate the connection …

Any ideas anyone ?

Will check another phone tomorrow, AirPods work fine with the phone (iPhone X btw)

I would try resetting your network settings on your iphone. Note: you will also loose all stored wi-fi passwords.

Second phone could not copnnect either

Reboot of the car OS allowed the existing connections to be deleted and recreated which solved the issue.

No need to do anything on the phones

How do you reboot the car os?

Don’t know who your asking - just to confirm that iOS is the Apple operating system.

BMW are also just rolling out an operating system 7 update at the moment for over the air users (fundamentally G30 LCI in our world) which is different.

Apple have acknowledged the CarPlay issues with iOS15 hence the update 15.0.2 - suggest everyone tries this before necessarily blaming the car?

Certainly my problems started after an iOS15 update on the phone, but deleting the connections on the car and remaking them fixed that (had to reboot the car OS so I could delete one of the connections so something in the car had an issue)

Looking forward to an OTA update - still on July 2020 version of ID7 ..... others received an update in the spring .....
