No power under acceleration, oil bubbling injector

Recommended Posts

Lovely n47 has another problem.

Under acceleration, particularly when going up hill, there is no power.

Took off engine cover, the injector closest to the front of the engine has oil coming through, bubbling at the base

Easy fix of new injector or deeper problems? What ya reckon.

Hi. It looks like copper washer that seats between cyl.head and injector has failed. Not most difficult job to do.

Thanks. That would cause the loss of power?

Hi. Sure. What you get is compression and fuel is escaping through the seal and engine has loss of power. This is very common. When engine is running you can hear puffing sound and also smell of fuel.

A mechanic bought the car, great guy.

To get it running he cleared the DPF by doing something down the right hand side of the engine with a big screwdriver.

Still leaking injector but the car was able to drive and he drove it home.

Blimey that was a quick decision & ad/sale .

I take it you'd got to the end of the road after all your other issues with it over the years ?

Haha, yeah, I'd had enough. After spending £2500 on engine repairs in the last 2 years enough was enough.

I'm now BMW less for the first time since 2008 :(

I have leased a new Golf 8 1.5 Life...£250 a month, £250 down. No repair bills! The ICE is amazing - it's the same on the whole range from the Life to the R. Impressed but hankering after a 5 to tinker with.
