535d oil catch can

Afternoon all. Has anyone on here fitted a catch can to there 535d/m57 engine. If so where did you fit the catch can too

I've never seen/heard of an external breather on any diesel but that's not to say they don't exist. 

I'm currently fitting one to my M54 3.0 I6 Petrol hence interested in any catch can talk...

Have a read through Sinners project thread in the project section (obviously)

Title Restart E39 530d sport touring,  not a e61 535d I know but the ideas the same.

@Numero9 You get a small amount of combusted fuel blowing past the pistons, the crankcases account for this extra build up of pressure by having the breather on top. In the normal setup this feeds back into the intake to run all that nasty vapourised goop through the engine again. The oil catch can separates the air from the sludge so you should be burning a cleaner mixture.

 

At least that's my thinking on it.
