004F8C Automatic Transmission Fault

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure, when they gave me the quote I looked on eBay and sump & oil kits seemed to range from £100-150, so I thought it seemed reasonable including labour. They are a gearbox specialist and not just a general mechanics so I'm sure they know what they are doing, the entrance was lined with BMWs and Range Rovers so they obviously do a lot of ZF boxes. It definitely feels a lot smoother than it did before, I've only done about 30 miles since so will report back in a few weeks.

£288 is very cheap, I think I paid £330 for mine many years ago - sump, oil and the connector sleeve.

As I said, it was cheep.

I'm not saying that they don't know what they are doing or are not specialists,

Dartford transmissions charge £600 + for there extended gearbox service,

That's a new pan  & filter, valve body tube seals (x4) mechatronic seal (figure 8 one)

& the o-ring on the conector + a full oil flush.

This is using all genuine zf part's but other (Mannol oil)

The genuine lifeguard 6 oil is very expensive.

My genuine kit, all zf cost £246.96 for seven liters of oil with the genuine sump pan/filter

+ the seals x6, I  then paid £160 labour inc vat . Two & half hours @£6060 an hour.

That's a cheep labour rate these day's.

Like I said, I really hope it work's for you.

I wish I'd gone to Dartford transmissions & had there extended gearbox service,

As mine is now worse than ever, but no fault codes or i-drive warnings YET!!!

I've covered about 10k since my service but it's not been right since about 2k onwards.
