Factory moonroof gasket / seal

Recommended Posts

I have seen some chatter over on mye28.com that the seal is to keep the wind noise down / out, not water.  That is why there are sunroof drains to carry away the water the seal lets past.

I have not had any issues with a good condition sunroof seal leaking, after washing and hosing down / jet washing, so not sure I agree with Vince 101's post on at 7:22 pm on 27th August 2020.

Agreed Big O the seal is not to keep water out but does act to reduce the amount to water entering the drains.

I changed mine because it was completely shot in one place and while driving during the rain i was getting a few drips off the back of the cassette. All that stopped once the new seal was in.
