For sale: My 2002/52 530i Sport Touring in Sterling Grey. 115,800 miles (rising slowly) and with four owners including myself. Fresh MOT on 18/08/20 and expires on 11/09/21. No advisories except I left child seats in the back, which did not allow the tester to examine the seatbelts!

Having wanted one for years I bought the car from a very exacting forum member via the classifieds on here in September 2015 when it was on 101,388 miles. My miles have been relatively low due to having a vehicle provided by work until last year and having a T5 van as our main family transport.

Overall condition is very good - with some marks, stone chips and age-related wear on the bodywork and wheels. Still very presentable and it regularly attracts positive comments remarking on its condition - photo’s were taken after a wash today. If you look hard there are a few small areas of rust developing in some of the usual places, but they are not bad or very obvious. Genuine M5 front bumper and M Sport side trims fitted.

The interior is VERY good and ultra clean. Looks more like 15,000 miles than 115k! The previous owner fitted an M5 leather centre console, aluminium interior trim and satin silver rings around the dials. He also had the dash pixels sorted, which remain perfect, and upgraded the stereo. There is a 6 CD changer in the boot. The steering wheel airbag was replaced by Arden BMW under the recall in June 2017 and the wheel therefore looks almost new!

The air conditioning is ‘always on’ to keep it in good order, and it remains very cold and working perfectly. Front and rear parking sensors work correctly as does the central locking (2 main keys plus valet key).

It drives brilliantly; the auto box is spot-on with no hesitation and there are no clonks, rattles or vibrations. Engine is smooth and pulls hard. Tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1 on the front and Kumho Ecsta Sport on the rear with plenty of tread left on all. Wheels are staggered. No kerbing damage, although all of them are suffering to some degree with the lacquer or paint bubbling. Spare wheel is unused since being refurbed in 2012. Full toolkit, locking wheel nut, jack and working glovebox torch are in place. Also the unused 1st aid kit and original carpet mats in fantastic condition.

Last serviced in September 2019, just over 5,000 miles ago by H&C Motors in Maidstone who have done any work or servicing since I have had it. There are 4 green lights left on the service indicator. All the original service books and pack is present. Having been unable to avoid a small but clearly heavy object on the motorway recently it has just received a new (used) front subframe and brand new power-steering pipe which were both damaged when I went over it. This work was also completed by H&C Motors at a cost of over £700. The centre front undertray was also taken out and I have chosen not to replace it.

HID kit was fitted by the previous owner, works well, and has not caused any issues at MOT time.

Some more pics, including a heavy-duty rubber boot liner which can be included or removed, as can the Thule roof bars:

I am only selling, with regret, as I am moving job roles that will involve more mileage and while it was in for the recent subframe replacement I got looking at the new Skoda Octavia and my head was turned by some decent lease deals .

I would like it to go to another forum member who understands and likes the car rather than someone who just wants a cheap BMW, so at the moment it’s only advertised on here. I am looking for a pretty firm £2,800 and will include the roof bars and very substantial boot mat at that price. Car can be viewed in Maidstone. Please PM or email me at sutts_7 at hotmail dot com.

Edited to add that the car also has electric folding mirrors, a concealed Parrot Bluetooth system that works via the steering wheel buttons and a perfect charcoal headlining.

On the downside, in recent weeks the front passenger window has decided to only lower by about three inches. H&C investigated and tell me that it needs a replacement regulator. I haven’t got this done due to the new parts cost from BMW (£200+) and because the air con is so good,  but they are looking into a second hand part price for me.

An absolute peach mate. I'm going to try and convince my son to buy it as he's after a Touring to tow his MX5 to track days, although I fear a 530 may prove too costly in the insurance department (he's 18!). If I wasn't about to build another extension I'd buy it myself. We'll soon see. Best of luck, regardless (and keep it exclusively on here for as long as you can eh! :D )

Hi,

Sutts - An absolutely fantastic advert ! well done for taking the time to create it! complementing it is the actual car itself which looks a lovely example !  I'm saving this advert so that I can link to it when others put up terrible/half arsed adverts to try and sell a car !

I suspect interest will be keen on this car from potential buyers who are more discerning and prepared to pay your asking price :)

Cheers, Dennis!

That’s absolutely stunning and very underpriced IMO. But that’s just my opinion.

Lovey car, superb advert and a cracking car for the next owner :)
