Halfords batteries

Recommended Posts

My F31 needs a new battery, my local dealer wants £307 and Halfords want £211 and they come to me and fit it on the drive, it has a five year warranty and coded to the car, would I be mad for not going with Halfords?

is the car still under any bmw warranty?

if not the go ahead with the halfords one, though that still seems like a huge amount of money for a battery to an E34 owner with a £75 lucas 019 battery.

+1 on the price, another example of 'rip-off-Britain' I'd say though fitting on your drive is obviously factored in. By comparison I paid less than £100 for a 019 (from a well known manuf.) last winter, as a replacement battery for my old RangeRover & fitted the item myself.

I'd also check that the 5 yr. warranty does mean just that, as opposed to a shorter guarantee (ie 12 months) thereafter replacement based on the unexpired warranty, ie if the battery fails after 30 months they will sell you a new one for half the (current) price.
