Webasto running

Recommended Posts

Hi after a lot of research it seems to me that any Webasto Thermotop fitted to BMW's are really the same. Okay some have differing Exhausts,   They do not, unlike the Rover 72 models use Pin 1 on the six pin plug to switch the unit to on, but I note posts here that say if fitting a non BMW switch then fit a wire to Pin 1 to supply a  +12v source to the unit.   This saves having to re-code and enables a remote control to be used.

BMW fitted units have a wire attached to Pin 2,  this is the diagnosis Pin.   My questions is, "is this pin also a way that Webasto make the Thermo Top make specific ( as in Marque of car)?    If so does anyone here have any idea of what this Pin requires to overcome any automatic block on the heater being able to fire up and work
