Style 49's on SE

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Ive been looking into different style OEM wheels for my facelift SE.

Not wanting to go down the style 66 route as IMO there are for sports...not SE's and also not looking to spend much...as cant justify it at the moment.

Now i quite fancy the look of the style 49's and i think they suite the SE lines perfect...plus an extra inch (wahey ;)) over my current 16" style 50s will help fill the arches a bit better.

There is a breaker who has a set with decent tyres, overall decent condition and willing to ship to me for £200. Does that sound fair or are they not worth as much?

Cheers

I’d say that’s a fair price as if there tidy the going rate would be around £200 for a set with decent tyres, 49s do have a tendency for the paint to lift in large chunks and crack and peel away, so if there in good condition it’s a fair price especially delivered

Smashing.

Didn't wanna pay over the odds for standard wheels. Will see if I can get some money off the price.

Style 49s are a good looking wheel and oddly enough can look bigger than they are.

I had them on my previous E39, which was an SE. Take a look in my V42 DPL album here in my profile.

My fave 17" wheel. And along with the Style 66s the only wheel that fits over M5 discs.

Style 49's are a good looking wheel. Even though they were a prefacelift wheel it does not matter.

Style 81's are also a great 17" option.

Cheers for all the input guys.

Ive sent a message asking for more pics of each wheel.

The add i spotted was a bog standard "breaking" add with one picture - and the wheels caught my eye.

Ive seen a few SE e39's with these wheels and a subtle suspension drop and i think they go together perfect.

Thanks

What drop in height is that?

Looks 40mm or 50mm easy! Deffo coilovers and not lowering springs; that's lower than Eibach Sportline would ever go I'd say

AFAIK the car is on standard Sport suspension..? The effect is heightened in that picture as it’s being thrown into a corner!

Looking at that picture is really making me think I should put the angel eyes back in and source some black kidney grilles :)

As per Chicane's post above (he owns the car now) it's on a standard sport suspension set up, all part of the Sport Pack that the car was kitted out with when built. That part of the Nurburgring, the Carousel, is steeply banked and therefore the car appears lower than it actually is, due to compression of the suspension.
