SuperDave RIP

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Pete here - Dave's younger brother.

Very sadly Dave passed away in the early hours of Monday morning. He had deteriorated very suddenly after battling against cancer for a few years.

Literally the last thing he did online was post on this forum - it just shows what high regard he held you lot in.

With that in mind, and knowing his lifelong passion for 5 series, we were wondering if there is any chance of having some kind of driveby at his funeral/wake.

It will be held in the Chester area in a few weeks time on a weekday at lunchtime.

At the moment this is just the bones of an idea - we have no idea if this is even something that could happen / be organised. What do you think?

Thanks on behalf of SuperDave's long suffering wife, and family.

Cheers

Pete

Really sorry to hear, he was one of the long standing members and don't ever remember being here without him.

Keep us posted on arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear this. As Sandip says he has been around this forum more or less since day one. Always friendly, always helpful and very knowledgable. He will be sadly missed. My thoughts and condolences are with you all. :(

Dave and I became good friends during 4 years I lived near Chester. He spotted my car at our daughters school and posted on this forum about it and it turned out his younger daughter and my daughter were in the same class together. We spent some excellent times with our families and friends together, and made some excellent memories, as well as having some great fun.

He broke the news of his diagnosis a while ago and was quite clear about his chances. I could only urge him to spend whatever time he had in making memories to last for a lifetime for his lovely wife and two beautiful daughters; I believe he had already decided upon that and acted upon that up to his last days.

I will miss him, his enthusiasm for this forum and BMW 5's, and the world is a slightly poorer place for having a such a kind, generous, enthusiastic and humorous man taken away at such a young age.

What a sad sad loss.  I remember him telling us about the cancer but like all things in life, time move fast so quickly.

Thoughts are with you and the family at this time Peter.

RIP Super Dave.

That's so sad.  He was a regular good bloke on here and very knowledgeable too. I exchanged a few teccy tips with him.

A drive by would be a great thing to do, lots of snarling, snorting BMWs giving him a final journey to the great motorway in the sky.

For those who were unaware, Dave did highlight his particular Cancer last year and posted this to raise all of our awareness and try to catch an early diagnosis in the hope of prolonging some lives.

Much banter and good  conversation i have had with the man over the years, many years.

i will miss him, who was double proper in my parlance. May he rest in peace, and i thank him for who he was.

Genuinely gutted for him, and his loved ones.

Thank You Pete for letting us know, if i was nearer, i’d be smoking the tyres for him.

I remember reading this post and thinking it was a pretty brave thing to do. I had forgotten just how young Dave was. Sad news.

I re-read Dave's post from last April, shocked that he is the same age as me.

Just to emphasise his comments from a year ago, please, please, please go and see your doctor if you think there is the slightest inclination that something isn't right.

Treat at your body like you do your 5 Series, if the car warns us that something isn't right, fromm the slightest strange knock to a red idrive screen, we investigate it, we plug it into diagnostics or we take it to a specialist. Do the same with your own chassis, please.

Sad news. RIP Dave and condolences to all his family.

A BMW driveby tribute sounds like just the kind of thing Dave would choose.
