Tyres prevent wheel scuffing

Recommended Posts

I've got a late 2018 5 Series G30 with 19" wheels and it appears that the tyres cleverly overhang the wheels a bit - so that it's less likely I'll scuff the alloys.

Is this a new thing and all of the latest models?

I say good.

It's known under many different names like flange or rim protection. It's more common on low profile tyres and varies from tyre maker to maker.

Yes rim protecters.

My new rear Michelin Primacy 3 have a far superior rim protecter over the tyres they replaced.

A good thing on 19" alloys if you ask me!

I've still scuffed one of mine very slightly , the 19s are bloody lovely on the G30/31 and a very easy clean too!

I, too, very slightly scuffed mine a few weeks ago and after looking closely it seems as though some of the tyre, where the scuff has happened, has also been eaten away. Haven't had any drop in pressure so lets hope it's not too much of a problem!
