Family cars. Talk to me

Recommended Posts

Evening all

It has become apparent that the seat altea the wife uses is too small for us all at the weekends.

Three kids. Two boys in the Kevin and Perry stage and a toddler.

This presents me with a problem now the boys are larger than they once were car wise.

The car isn't big enough!

Options out there for £3k max?

Don't want a thirsty exciting thing. The wife is driving it 9-5 as it were and I am trying to build the M5 fund.

I've sort of asked this before but estates were suggested. None of which are wide enough so it looks like touran territory. They are riddled with issues though.

Any suggestions welcome

Cheers

At the OPs budget; I'd avoid anything french personally...

Ford or Vauxhall; cheap to buy and maintain/fix etc

Ford galaxy is a good shout.

Funny that one of my suppliers turned up in one today. Like a van inside. Massive with three big rear seats.

Hold their money apparently.

French stuff is a no from me.

I was going to say galaxy but tapatalk wouldn't let me last night - that or the S-Max i think it is, seems to suit those with 3 kids.

Yeah s max also

Nearly bought one but got a touran which space size was good. Just riddled with issues so I got rid before anymore lights came up on the dash.

Will investigate the ford option.

At my price point it'll take some finding one that has been looked after

I'd vote for the Smax too. Decent handling and they hold their value well come re-sale. I'd avoid anything French like the plague.

Viewed one was a dog

Found a touran with really good history

Belt and clutch done within the last 12 months.

Hmm

Anyone had a TDI touran?

This is proving quite hard.

Seems the lower end of the market is awash with turds at dealers.

Looked at a car today described as excellent condition.

It was a shed at excellent condition money. Nice one!
