2003 E39 525d Sport Touring - Manual

Recommended Posts

Super reliable BMW 525d Sport Touring with manual gearbox.

I have owned the car since July 2012 and the car is used every day for commuting, family taxiing and holidays all across Europe completing 80,000 miles in my ownership … it went to the Spanish Pyrenees twice last year. The only reason for sale is that after a long search I have found an E61 525d Manual Sport Touring. As the last two BMW 5 series have been brilliant cars, I wanted another.

Up to the point I bought the car it was BMW and Specialist serviced and since then it has a fully documented (description, receipts and digital pictures) completed by myself or a trusted local independent when I have been short of time. I am very particular about the cars I run and I do not expect a car with 150,000 miles or 200,000 miles to perform any differently to a new car. So I always use OEM parts, fully synthetic oil, BMW service procedures and checklists.

So no knocking, wandering or shimmying with this one, it drives really well.

There are a few minor issues (as you would expect with a 15 years old car) that will be listed below, these could be fixed or ignored.

Viewing can be arranged and I am happy to discuss the vehicle and its history ..... 07736 811702

As you can see over the first couple of years of ownership, I spent lots of time bringing the car back up to standard and it has covered many miles since, never letting us down, it has been a brilliant family car. We’ve driven it across Europe on holiday’s every year since (southern France and Pyrenees), as we would have this year too. All the usual major suspension items on an E39 have been replaced, front and rear shocks, all front suspension components, rear sub-frame mounts. All these are fully documented and photographed and you can tell, as it drives like a car with less than half the mileage and should be good for lots more miles.

Is it perfect?  No, it is a car with 206,000 miles on it and has stone chips, age related wear and some rust bubbles appearing. I bought the car with most of these in place and I have waxed them extensively to halt their progress, so there is surface rust in some of the usual spots, wheel arches, a patch under the sill by the driver’s door and rear hatch (not visible when closed). That said when the car is clean and waxed it still looks very smart. CD changer sometimes faults and needs resetting.

All this history will be provided in hard and soft copy along with the car.
