What mileage? I would get the chain done as a matter of course, just swallow the cost. That's what I wish I had done

Right, now going for a new engine

As well as the damage in the pics, a glow plug has snapped off and nearly all valves are leaking.

No words apart from F**K THE N47 POS

Had my N47 timing chain done at 90k, then 2 years later the HPFP failed, they found metal fillings in cyclinder 4, I then gave up.

The N47 is an absolute lemon!

It's a disaster, why the hell did I buy one.

Where do you think the fillings came from? Did your chain break?

There is nothing wrong with the new engine as far as I know but I'm still getting the chain done regardless.

Total cost so far £1350

They found metal fillings in the intake manifold, EGR & cyclinder chamber. The other worrying bit was the end of the glow plug was missing, these were replaced last year.

Bit of mystery, so it was either the HPFP or the glow plug lunged the engine, which is crazy as the injector is high precision.

Look in BMWCAR magazine March 2019 page 88. Nice article on this.

Thanks for that. I might as well get it done. Need to find the part number.

I'm going to be keeping this car for years lol

Its only on 53k at the min. But I reckon I might only keep the car for another year. Too many things about the F11 don’t make it as ‘good’ a car as it is portrayed to be........
