Air con and heater problem

Recommended Posts

I'm having issues with my air on and the blowers. Even when I set the heater to cold I'm getting warm air through when I'm set on windscreen and the air on doesn't do anything. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The climate control system is quite complex and it's possible to get warm air out of the dashboard face-level vents when you might be expecting cool as they are individually adjustable on some models. Do you you have those options on your car?

If it's not just a matter of adjustment it could be quite a few things, but maybe check those settings first?

It hasn't got climate control just cold to hot and blower settings and ac. It's through the window vents it's warm, even on cold it's warming than outside temp!

Hi Spally - just to be pedantic, that setup is climate control, just the analogue version not the digital one. It's the same setup I have in my e61. From what you describe it sounds like it could be the air temperature sensor within the HVAC system may be faulty. That means the control module thinks the air in the car is colder than it actually is and so is throwing out warm air to try and heat things up.

The settings in the iDrive just add a bias to the air coming out of the dashboard vents so you can set it to be slightly warmer for winter running or slightly colder for summer running (or leave it in the middle). It's just a comfort thing and shouldn't impact the overall operation of the system in the way you are describing.
