Just had some new genuine BMW brake pads put on the front. (Independent garage) Brakes are pretty squeaky even after being lubed.

Been worn in as well

Any advice

Either cheap compound or they need to be taken out, cleaned off and a BT of copper grease added to the rear of the pad and the 'ears' of the pads where they sit in the caliper.

But, have you let them bed in properly with some hard but not aggressive braking etc?!

They've used copper grease and some blue compound. They seem to squeak when starting and stopping in traffic. I've done about 700miles tried to wear them in a little. Squeaking seams to be intermittent but a high pitch when it does occur.

Unfortunately I'd say they're just cheap pads and will squeal with usage

You could do as above and take them out, clean them off and reapply the grease to the proper areas etc... Did they come with any anti-squeal shims that you know of?

Do they squeal all the time when braking; or just when they're cold etc?
