    OEM Springs for 530i SE

I'm planning to change out the lowering springs that the previous owner of my E39 project car fitted, front and back. I want to restore it to OEM parts but I can't seem to find the BMW part numbers. The car just doesn't look right on lowered springs, it being an SE. Also it's a real pain trying to get my trolley jacks underneath! The shocks also look aftermarket but I've got the OE numbers for those if I need to replace them too. No luck finding the spring numbers on RealOEM, it shows the springs but there aren't any numbers for them, unless I haven't found the right diagram? Does anyone have them? (It's a saloon, not touring)
  2. If your estate BMW 5 Series (known as a Touring or the F11 or the GT F07) has its backside on the ground one morning or you have an error message on your dash relating to a ride fault or an air suspension fault, have a look through these threads to give you an idea on what the issue is and how to resolve it. This is a collection of just some of the threads to be found on here, not all are one here simply due to the fact, they were never resolved or closed out so there is nothing to be learned from them. This is purely a reference thread to other posts on here and is not to be used as a discussion thread. Failure symptoms above thread was closed out in last post of this next thread DIY guide to replacing the rear sir springs. 3. I went out to start the car this morning as it hasn't run for a few weeks. It started fine, but I moved it forward just to check the brakes weren't seized and there was a scraping noise from the front. When I got out I could see the suspension was right down at the front. It turns out the front left spring has broken, which is strange for it to break when it is just standing. I suppose I can't complain 13 years old and 175000 miles. I had a look at RealOEM and for my car it says "No parts found matching your car." Carparts for less and Eurocarparts offer Sachs, but there are 2 options one with M-Technology and one without M-Technology. I assume M-Technology was only fitted to M-sport models, so probably stiffer springs, but they are significantly cheaper than the standard. If anyone has any advice on the right springs for may car (520d E61 2007 Lci SE model) and the best place to get them from it would be appreciated.
  4. I'm putting my E39 530i SE Auto Saloon back to stock so I have this full set of H&R lowering suspension kit up for grabs. It's currently fitted but will come off when sold, funds used to replace with OEM set. It's 4 springs and 4 shocks with plates etc. Not sure how long they've been on the car but they don't look ancient, most likely done around 10k miles which was when the previous owner had a lot of work done on the car. Unfortunately I haven't found any records of the fitting in the paperwork. Think it's this kit https://www.autodoc.co.uk/h-and-r/15745083 as the part numbers match up. They're £590 new. I'm looking for £280. PM if interested, I'm in Surrey but happy to post if necessary. 5. I have recently upgraded my front/rear suspension to a full Bilstein B12 kit, so everything that was originally on the car is now for sale. I also made a mistake of buying wrong top mounts, which are suitable only for normal suspension, NOT sport, so they are also for sale, along with new front spring cups and spring pads, various new washers/nuts and brand-new front Sachs dust covers and bump stops. The full list of items for sale is as below with their part numbers: x2 Used front shock absorbers made by Boge: 834903003128 x2 Used front springs - not sure what make they are, most likely genuine BMW x2 New front top mounts made by Bilstein, including new nuts - 12-248605 (OEM part number: 31331139452) - these are suitable for the above shocks x1 New Sachs front dust cover kit, includes front shock absorber dust covers and bump stops - 900 004 x2 New BMW front shock absorber top nuts - 31321139422 x2 New BMW front washers for the top nuts - 07119905829 x2 New BMW front washers that go under the top mounts - 31331110196 x2 New BMW front washers that sit between the top mounts and the spring cups - 31336776760 x2 New BMW front spring cups - 31331128524 x2 New BMW front upper spring pads - 31331128523 x2 Used BMW front lower spring pads x2 New BMW front spacers, these are the first thing to go on the shocks - 31321129977 x2 Genuine used BMW rear shock absorbers (made by BOGE), complete with springs, top mounts and all the hardware - 33521135860 I don't have new top mounts for the rear shocks, as the ones that I bought matched my car, so we got them fitted with the new suspension. However, I would advise buying new top mounts for the rear before you fit the shocks. Also the bump stops on the rear have split, so ideally you'll also need new bump stops for the rear. Overall, the shocks and springs were in good condition before we removed them, but obviously keep in mind that they are probably 20+ years old, so don't expect Ferrari-like handling. However, if you need something soft and comfortable to waft you along, then these will do the job fine. They were removed from my 1992 E34 525i, so please make sure they fit your car before you commit to buy. The BMW bits along with the top mounts cost me £100+, so if I get £150 for the whole lot, then I'll be happy with that. Due to size and weight, this will have to be a collection-only from west London, but if you pay the asking price, then I could probably deliver them to you, assuming you are not too far away from London. PM me, if interested. Thanks for looking.

  7. Hi Everyone, As the title says really. I've got replacement shocks and springs for my 520i saloon, bought spring compressors too and had a read of how to take the shocks & springs out of the car. Last MOT the guy said the top mounts might have bent/warped etc, so top mounts will be replaced too. Any suggestions for top mounts to get? Or would standard ones from eurocarparts do? Also anything else I should look at replacing while the suspensions apart? Many thanks
  8. Hey guys, Recently, after replacing my 16" turbines with 17" alloys, I've been thinking of fitting some lowering springs to the e39. I don't want to "slam" it as there are a few speed bumps near me. I've been thinking of max of 30mm, but I would like to see what you guys have. So can you please post a pic of your lowered e39s and a small detail (name of springs, and lowering height) Much appreciated!
  9. Guys, What is the ride height meant to be on one of these? Also what is the best and cheapest springs & dampers?
