    Loose trim flaps in boot

This will have to be the least important and most anal/OCD question I'll ever ask here. Something common to both E39s I've owned is in the boot, the battery compartment flap (on right) and CD Changer/Nav flap on left don't stay shut as the plastic grips on the inside of the panel tend to get a bit baggy after a while and don't grip the metal bar. I assume the only way to get them to stay shut is to replace the whole flap, but they only seem to last a couple of years or so. I tried putting tape on the bar to make the bar thicker but that only helped slightly. Otherwise I can only think of unstylish methods inc. velcro or drlling a hole in it and installing some kind of latch like on the E46. lol anything to add? Cheers.

    Climate Control on the blink

Had the system re-gassed the other day as it didn't appear to be working. Needed refilling by about 2/3 but the mech also reported that the control panel had a fault - basically the control bus was reporting that all the buttons were pressed, and so the A/C wouldn't kick in. He cleared the fault, and told me that if it happened again, just to make sure that all the buttons operated ok. Yesterday the same thing - no A/C, so I suspect that the control panel unit has an intermittent fault. Looking on-line, there seems to be four part numbers that match my car (build date 2000/05) - Mine has the rest button. 64 11 6902541 64 11 6902542 64 11 6902544 64 11 6902545 Anybody know what the differences are? Is it different firmware or something? I'm going to try and locate a second hand panel on the Bay of e, unless anybody here happens to have a unit I could test...
