I've noticed a while ago that there is considerable oil inside the air ducts. Since I want to rule out the simple things, I'd like to replace the oil breather but don't seem to find it. There was a thread a few days ago, with a useful link how to replace the vortex breather on a 530d. Any ideas where to locate the breather on a 520d N47?
Hi guys, I'm having white smoke issue on my E39 525dA 2001. When I drive more dynamically (more pressure?) the car starts blowing white (might be bluish) smoke - a lot, also white smoke is coming out from the passenger side of the engine. There's oil or maybe coolant leak (see the picture). The turbo is relatively new (about 40k miles), there's no apparent coolant level drop, the EGR is isolated. There's nothing unusual on the oil cap, but I think I'm loosing oil (no oil spots under the car). I'm thinking about failed CCV (oil getting sucked into the inlet), valve cover gasket failure, failed EGR coolant. Any suggestions? Here are the white smoke videos: Exhaust white smoke White smoke coming from the passenger side of the engine (valve cover gasket?) This is a picture of the leak:
Hello. Did my ccv today. Not a bad job, easy I thought until I fired it up... Fired first time and then settled down, made a popping noise then backfired it's tits off. Basically the crappy connecting hose: 11617504535 in the Meyle kit bought from c3bmw has parted company from it's connector on the ccv- connector correctly attached to the ccv but hose end floating about giving the worlds largest airleak! It's Saturday, Sytner parts are closed and I have the job to do again. I wouldn't mind but the Meyle hoses looked a bit "Fisher Price" when they came out of the bag. I've seen the Febi hoses and can vouch for them being better than these Meyle shite. Beer o clock.
