  2. From the album: My 523i Conversions and Maintenance

One hour of hard labor and what a difference, after polishing my aluminum rims. I decided to go for a hidden wheel stem, looks much cleaner and eraser to polish and keep clean.
  3. Hi All, getting my alloys refurbished on the 29th and figured that spanking new look alloys would look rather poo with old bubbled caps, but cant seem to find what size they are.. I see plenty on EBAY that suggest they are 68mm but does anyone have a definitive answer?? im on staggered 19s in case it made any odds... Thanks in advance

    Tyres and Non Runflat

So after much deliberation and time spent investigating, my Pending MOT has forced me to buy new Tyres all round.... I may have got away with only doing the rears but figured for the price I will do all 4. So what I have gone fore is Khumo Ecsta PS91 which according to the blurb are perfect for BMWs M sports cars!! SO to put a final Nail in the coffin of Run flat vs Non run flat I will update this thread with my own personal views once they are on.. of course this will be personal and no doubt everyone is different, however i`m sick of the whole thing and should I or should i not tell insurance... so its being done and im just gonna drive the thing!! On that note too its cost me £370 for tyres and £60 to have fitted!!

    E39 530 Touring - new wheels

Hi all I have just picked up a 2001 530i touring. The plan is to get it serviced and then give it good clean up. I would also like to change the wheels. It currently has the original 16in turbine style wheels and would really like to fit some Alpina style wheels to it but would also like to go a little larger. Would a set of 18in wheels fill the arches up a bit more while still giving good ride comfort? What size tyres should i be looking at and do i need staggered wheels? Any advice really appreciated
  6. Hi everyone, I have sold my BMW e60 a few weeks ago but I still have a set of winter wheels - MV2. The allow wheels were fully refurbished last spring and never used since. The colour is close to Ferric grey. The tires are Nokian and the tire thread varies from 5.4mm to 6.4mm (tire to tire). Tires were never repaired and will definitely serve couple more winters. Tires size: 245/40 R18. The wheels are genuine BMW MV2 alloy wheels that have never been repaired or dented. Only one wheel has some rust indentation and even full re-fureb couldn't fix it but I have added a picture of it. I am based in Glasgow and would prefer a pick up or can consider posting at the buyer cost. If anyone interested just PM me. The price: £495 ono Thanks everyone.

    BBS Split rims on 540??

Hi Guys. Question. Were these BBS style alloys available from BMW on my 540 when it was new? See the blue touring below. Oddly, seen a few 528s with these same wheels. bmw-e39-5-series-96-04-528i-se-touring-S2892933-1 by Motion Limited, on Flickr I ask because I really like them and would consider putting them on my car, but I might not if they were never available for my car. This is mine. I know the current wheels were not available in 1998! IMG_1367 by Motion Limited, on Flickr The same wheels I think on this very nice looking 8 series same colour as mine. 368 by Motion Limited, on Flickr Thoughts?
  8. I recently upgraded to Throwing stars, so my original 15x7 (ET20, 72.5mm centre bore) BBS alloys are for sale, including the spare wheel. Part number for all the wheels is: 36111179774 The tyres are all 225/60/15 - the fronts are about 5-6mm (Marshal Matrac) in excellent condition and the rears are around 3-4mm (Continental ContiPremiumContact 2), which are still ok to use. The spare has an old Pirelli P600, but in good condition (5-6mm) and holds air. I have 4 centre caps and the wheels are 100% straight, balanced and tested - ready to bolt on. Would be looking around £250 ONO and collection from west London. If interested, please PM me. Thanks

    E39 wheels on an F11?

Hi Hope someone can help! I was wondering, would 16 inch E39 wheels (strictly for winter use) be compatible on a non-Msport F11 (which otherwise rides on 17/18 inch rims)? I've seen an ad for some used E39 rims, but clearly don't want to splash out if they're not compatible. Thanks!

    Frustrating vibration

So I have a frustrating vibration, prominent between 60 and 70, lessening by 77 and above. Gut feel was wheels/tracking so had that done first. At same time replaced two ball joints at rear. Still vibrating. Then had more examination, replaced front shocks and a wishbone bushing. Still vibrating. Had Guibo and prop center bearing done, shifts better and no shunt, but still vibrating. With more time on motorway to really experiment, and with car now riding smoother, the same vibration is still there, felt in legs and wheel, but it's not wiggling of wheel, it's a higher frequency. So this makes me think it's something wheel/tyre related or wheel interface? Coukd really do with a known good set of wheels/tyres to rule this in/out!
  11. Hi there I have a 2011 BMW 520d F10 and want to change the wheels on it but need to know what other model BMW wheels will fit it as Ive been offered some nice X5 claw wheels but want to get the right fitment for my car can anybody help?

    Would these fit?

Guys, would these fit a 550i f10? 255/40/19 m wheels ( see pics) think they are off an m5? With almost new winter tyres.

Ladies and Gents, If you've read my other post here, you may have some idea of the biggest issue with my wheels. They judder after 60-mph (just feel a vibration in the steering, nowhere else), braking is fine, track rod ends are fine, wheel bearings are also perfect. The wheels themselves have a part number stamp different to what the M-Paras should be on the E39. (ending in #730) so they're from an E38 or E31 - and seem to have been machined out to fit, and machined out just a tad too much, buggering them up. I was wondering if anyone local to west london, or at least within a short drive from heathrow, has a set of natural E39 Paras that i can test and borrow for a couple of hours just to make sure that it's only the wheels that are the problem. Rental payment will come in the form of a bacon sandwich and beer tokens (or McDonalds and juice if that's your flavour) Muchos Gracias Hombres Deepan
  14. Just wonering what alloy wheels and tyres you guys use on your F11 or F10. Mainly interested in aestheticall look and of course comfort and etc. If possibly you can post some pictures that will be nice. Thinking about getting dark grey or black wheels instead, any suggestions, thanks

Temporary on 15 inch wheels in the rear, but the pic came out very well :)
  16. Hi, just about to pick up a 2015 520d M Sport with the Sport Plus pack but as I travel down some bumpy country lanes I am hoping to exchange the 19" 351M wheels for a set of 18" 613M wheels of similar (excellent) condition and tread (only 7k miles done). Anyone interested let me know at michaelpd123@yahoo.co.uk Based in Nantwich, Cheshire but willing to travel to meet up if required. Pics to follow Thanks, Michael
  17. I've been looking into 18x8" wheels for summer tyres, to replace the 17" with winter tyres still on my F11. I thought others might find the information I've dragged up useful, so I thought I would post it all in one place. Wheel/Tyre weights Size Style Weight, kg Weight with 14kg RFT (225/50R17 or 245/45R18), kg Delta to 236, kg 17x8 236 9.93 23.9 0.0 17x8 327 11.88 25.9 2.0 18x8 350 11.40 25.4 1.5 18x8 281 11.90 25.9 2.0 18x8 365 12.13 26.1 2.2 18x8 237 12.48 26.5 2.6 18x8 330 12.60 26.6 2.7 18x8 328 12.77 26.8 2.8 18x8 234 11.10 25.1 1.2 F07 wheel 18x8 234 11.10 22.2 -1.7 F07 wheel with Michelin PSS Sources: http://www.bmwstylewheels.com http://tiredb.com http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ The take aways from this for me are: 1.There's little difference in weight between 225/55R17 and 245/45R18 tyres - RFT's come in at around 14kg, non-RFT around 2kg lighter (although there seems to be more variation in the weight of non-RFTs). 2.There's quite a range of weights for the OEM wheels. 3.The F07 234 wheel is significantly lighter than the second lightest, the 350M, and is cheaper (AFAIK there shouldn't be a problem fitting an F07 wheel, other than the fact that F07 and F10/11 use different profile tyres, but waiting for supplier to confirm). 4.The humble 17" 236 is actually quite a light wheel. RFTs can be deleted in other markets? Ummm.... sort of. In the test I did on the French BMW site, you can indeed delete RFT's from a new car configuration, unlike the UK site where you can't. However, it appears you can only do this for 17" wheels, as, as soon as you up the size, the delete option is no longer enabled. Type-approved non-OEM wheels X10 seems to be the most prevalent, but there are a couple of variants. Wolfrace X10 is not RFT compatible but Uniwheel X10 18" is RFT compatible (also sold under Rial brand I believe). Still trying to confirm weight of Uniwheel X10 18", but the 17x8" version apparently comes in at 10.8kg, based on a post on another board. If that's true then it compares well with the OEM wheels in that regard. So..... still undecided (except I want to keep RFT's).... but if the 18" X10 comes in at 12kg or less then I am not sure I can justify spending £1300 on BMW wheels rather than £500 on X10s!

    Damaged Sider Wheels

Hey gang, noticed i was loosing 20psi overnight so popped to local tyre fitters to have wheels inspected. Only to find out the the two rears are cracked in a few places, so had to break out the credit card and forked out for some aftermarket alpinas. Now i'm left with wheels i have no use for, if anyone here would like these as a complete set for a donation and willing to collect in person (Mersyside) then please get in touch to arrange collection. Going to place a ad on gumtree next week and thinking of asking for £200. if a member on here would like them at a much lower price, they are boxed and im willing to take to them to the nearest drop point for a courier set up by you if you're interested. 25. Hi all. I've gone and bought a 2005 M5 to have some fun. I've bought it to do some work too and as a beginner would like some advice and tips as I learn the car. First off is the alloys. I'd like to buy some new ones as these have been repaired and need replacing. Tyres are good so ideally would like to keep them. Current tyres are as follows:- Front 245/35/20 Rear 285/30/20 There are some chunky spacers on them (I haven't measured them yet and I don't yet know the offsets) Can anyone suggest some good wheels to reduce the spacer thicknesses? I've attached a photo of the current wheels (I don't know the name!)...
