  1. What is your preferred method of replacing broken headlight adjusters? I came across this video on youtube for replacing all 4 of them on Xenon headlights without opening up the headlights but doing it all from the outside. On my car, my old headlights only have the Xenon adjusters broken, the full beam adjusters are fine. Removing the broken Xenon adjuster and the white base it plugs into was not that hard, but trying to get the new long adjuster in place between the two tabs and into the adjustment screw was proving to be very difficult. And apparently this is supposed to be the easy one to install. I had the adjuster in place on the bottom of the adjustment screw without any tape to pull it up, and tried to simple turn the hex/philips adjuster at the top of the headlight and the screw went in a few mm but it just didn't budge any further and got really tight, so much so that the cogs on the adjuster at the top slipped as they are just plastic, and I can't imagine pulling on it will help that much. I guess this will be an issue whether I open the headlights up or not but it likely to be fractionally easy to do it with the headlights opened up. I looked at the broken and new adjuster and they were almost identical. I saw one youtuber in the comments said it took him 4 hours to replace all of the adjusters using this outside method, which seems ridiculous as it would surely be much quicker to simply take the headlights apart.
  2. I need a driver's side headlight (xenon, facelift with angel eyes) must be OEM/ Hella and in good condition. Crucially the adjusters need to be good. My car has failed its MOT due to broken headlight adjusters and the DIY is too fiddly/ time consuming for me to attempt at the moment. I would consider a pair of headlights at the right price if both were good with working adjusters.

    Rear headlight help !

Hi guys, hope your all well!!!! So I have an issue with my e60 525d. i have had a lci conversion in my pre lci e60 (both headlights and tail lights). when I had it done I got it coded so the strobes on the tail lights would be the brake lights ( ie they light up when the brake is pressed in the day , and at night are on dim and brighten up when the brake is pressed) the issue i have is that some of the strobes are starting to fade and I can’t find a “bulb” for them. is there a bulb for these I can change to make them brighter again? I’ve attached pics so you can see what I mean ( the bottom strobes are fine but the ones along the top are really dim!) any help would be appreciated!

    Xenon Headlights

Hello All, I am thinking about upgrading the headlights on my 5 series to xenon. I find it difficult driving at night, especially when the road markings are not very clear and the road lighting is poor. I have found some xenon headlights on the eurocarparts website (links given below) and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience in upgrading to xenon headlights and what to look out for. Any advice would be greatful. Left Xenon Headlight Right Xenon Headlight Thanks Naz
  6. OK, this may seem like a fairly sraightforward question but one ive yet to find a very clear answer, My 5 series has the following 2 options (522 and 524) Xenon lights and adaptive headlights, but I cant find exactly what Bulb I need to replace the slightly pink and bound to fail soon one I have in the drivers side lamp. I keep seeing that it is DS1 Xenon, but are they all the same as far as wattage etc is concerned?? and should I chose to go for a different kelvin rating does this cause any issues?? im thinking 6000K?? Also can someone explain to me how to tell if i just have Xenon or Bi-Xenon?? I have noticed that my cornering lights in one of the lamps is halogen and looks very orange compared to the other bulb so assume i just have Xenon? Thanks in advance. Mr Ashton im sure you have this covered off somewhere in that knowledge base of yours
  7. Hello, I have read solutions like "Put some silica gel in" or "drill some holes" when people said their headlights were misting up. The answers seemed a bit iffy to say the least, as you would assume BMW had a bit more savvy than that. My headlights kept misting up & even drying them out were the same within a couple of days. I got some different headlights so thought the problem was cured. But no, same thing again. I decided to investigate properly instead of following the advice of some armchair mechanics. The bottom line was, the headlight cover was no longer sealed to the lens section above where the headlight finishes & the indicator starts. You can test this for yourself by gently flexing the unit with the lip that's above the indicator & you will see a slight difference in movement between the cover & lens holder. Not a lot of room to play about, but clean the joint with a bit of rag on a small screwdriver then run some silicone sealer in the joint. I went to the end of the indicator just to make sure. Headlights have been clear for a fortnight now, so job sorted.
  8. Headlights were in terrible condition when I bought the car. I've Sanded the lenses down and resealed, great improvement.

    H7 Bulb help!

Hi guys, Sorry if I don't explain this too well, but I'll try and clarify where I can. I recently purchased some new LED bulbs for my high beam H7s (wanted to move from halogens). They are the CREE LED bulbs with a heat sink/fan at the end (you can probably see loads on eBay). An example of a similar bulb below; The problem is, I can't use the H7 metal bracket to clip the bulb in place. This is because these new bulbs have a huge fixed heat sink/fan at the end so I can't attach the metal clip from behind. The black H7 fitting ring unclips and slides out through the front for "easy fitting" but I can't slide the metal bracket from the front as the bulbs are thicker than what the bracket allows (see below) It seems as though even if I manage to get both back on the bulb, the fitting ring wont have the room to "clip" back on the bulb which won't fix my problem of a loose fit? Any advice? Anyone had experience fitting these bulbs and how they went about it? I've returned the set I bought as one bulb was faulty so before purchasing a new set, I thought I'd see if anyone has any input on the fitting? Thanks!

    F10 LCI lights

Hey guys I have a 2011 525d and I want to change my headlights to LCI model lights. Currents lights are with indicators and and are adaptive lights if that help. Will the LCI lights fit my car? And is it plug and play or will I need to buy something else with them?
  11. Hello..Can anyone help with the following. My headlights are not very bright are there any solutions? Is it possible to easily upgrade my idrive/entertainment system to digital? many thanks...new to this forum.....
  12. Hi everyone, There is not many accurately detailed posts on this, I've had a look & I'm a bit unsure on what to do so any advice will help. I've been keeping up on this forum for years however this is my first topic so excuse me if I'm doing anything wrong.. I have a 535d M Sport Pre LCI with the ugly hazey Halogen headlights. I've managed to pickup a pair of BMW Pre LCI Dynamic Xenon headlights with the ballast (and I think headlight module) without the bulbs or bulb holder for £50! Which I think is bargain of the century. I wanted to know what my options were. The route I was thinking of going as a last resort was, HID with bulb holder, and some E53 X5 SMD LED Angel Rings which I bought as I know these are the same measurements for the angels on E60's. Is there any other way to do it so I can get the Dynamic Xenon also working with the whole steering wheel etc.. Will there be any coding required? Do I need any additional parts etc. Thanks, Nahid

    Polishing dull E39 headlights

I know the prescribed method for rejuvenating dull plastic headlights is to use 50 different grades of sandpaper, wet and dry paper, cutting compound with a mains-powered machine polisher and 20 different kinds of resin polish, but... ... I couldn't be arsed with all that. As a shortcut, I purchased myself a bottle of Meguiars PlastX clear plastic polish, which promises to bring dull old headlights back to life. I got it from Amazon (link below), no issues. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0000AY3SR This really is the lazy man's headlight restoration - all I did was apply the PlastX using my cheapy 12v Halfords electric polisher, buffed it up by hand with a microfibre cloth, and gave the lights a smear of Collinite 476S wax, in the hope of a longer-lasting shine. I thought I'd do the obligatory "before and after" pictures, to show how it went. Nearside headlight before polishing Offside light before polishing Nearside headlight after polishing Offside light after polishing As you can see, the end result isn't 100% perfection, but I'd say it's about 80%. I think I'd have to go down the sandpaper/cutting compound/mains polisher/faff route for the final 20%. But, given the condition of the rest of the car's front end (yes, that is 156,000 miles worth of stone chips you can see in the pictures), 80% is good enough for me. So, in summary, it's possible to get decent(ish) results with a bottle of PlastX and 30 minutes of time.

Today my 2001 e39 530i sport - facelift failed its MOT for having broken headlights..... The garage have told me that the headlights have "come loose" internally. Apparently there is something broken internally. To do with the lenses or otherwise. The garage's solution is to replace 2 headlights at £562 + Vat + FITTING - HA HA HA HA HA..... My plan so far is to strip the lights and investigate a repair - but has anyone got any advice - hints, tips, suggestions...... And ultimately can anyone recommend a reliable good quality replacement complete unit?? Thanks so much

    Angel eyes, please help!

Hello I know this has been talked out before many times but I'm also in a state of confusion over lights. I have an error msg stating front right parking light failure. It appears to be the two rings that are out, when side lights are on the only thing that lights up on that side is the eyebrow, when headlights are on its hard to tell but I think the rings are still out (headlights work fine) also full beam works fine. I have looked at videos on you tube etc and some appear to have two bulbs, one for each ring and some have one bulb which light up both. I have no idea what bulb or bulbs or LEDs I need but the details of the car are 2003 bmw 530d e60 and the lights appear to be xenon (so a halfords guy said). The angel eyes when turned on before this malfunction are a nice white colour, no yellow or orange hint, just pure white. Il try and attach a photo of it sitting with the side lights on for extra info if anyone knows. Basically I was wondering can anyone tell me what I need to correct this, one bulb, two, led or what? Highly confused Thanks in advance Stephen
  16. Hi everyone, this may seem like a daft question but i would like to get this cleared up. Im the owner of a 2005 bmw 525d se msport. My question is about the automatic lights. One of my previous BMW's which was M3 E46, when i switched it to auto headlights, for example during the early morning periods the side lights would only come on, as evening came, main headlights would turn on. On my 5 series, when i switch the lights to auto, the main beam is always on, regardless of the light. Is the same with all 525d? Or is it a fault? Many thanks, Jim.
