advice requested for winter tyres G31 520d Sport (2020)

I just spoke with a local BMW dealer who said that 18" wheels may interfere with the computer as the car is set up for 19" wheels...is that true, or just non-sense? -

yes, maybe it's not so bad after all to pay £1,500... -

Hi Bev - I did reach out to Dick Lovett in Bristol. They have the 632 with Goodyear Ultra Grip tyres that you talked about, but now for 1,500 pound. So you have done a good deal with them. I did check the German websites on Ebay indeed, they have good deals, often for set that are slightly used. I'm just worried about customs duties, as I have no clue what they will charge on top of the usual VAT. -
thank you for letting me know, I'll have a look to see if I can find another set!

Yes, I see the point, but you got a really a really good price for a complete set of winter wheels and tyres. I also thought about importing a good set from Germany, where they seem cheaper but then you're probably hit with customs duties (and the usual VAT of course). -

Thank you very much for the advice, that's really good information. My BMW 520d M Sport version is actually almost the same as the one of 'stressed' and I also bought a pre-reg model back in July 2020. I believe its a mild hybrid. I definitely don't have the coloured brakes, so looks like I am flexible to fit the 17" or 18" wheels and tyres, which would save me lot it seems...! -

Thank you very much to all for the advice. I'm certainly going for 18" wheels in that case. Let's see where I can find a good set to start with. I'll also check out the BMW configurator. -
hi there, these are definitely sold right?

That's a good point. The site you suggests seems to be down at the moment. I checked the https://www.pirelli.com website which suggests the following fit on my car; 225/55 R17 245/45 R18 245/45 R18 F and 275/40 R18 R 245/40 R19 F and 275/35 R19R 245/40 R19 The 225/55 R17 Winter 210 Sottozero Serie II is priced just over 140 pound per tyre, but I would still need wheels clearly. Perhaps a second hand set could make more sense? -

I would like to ask your advice on winter tyres for my G31 BMW Sport Touring 520d. My BMW currently has 19" run-flat summer tyres fitted, which is not ideal as I'm facing winter conditions in my area. I noticed that 19" run flat winter tyres are a bit hard to find and very expensive (for example Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 run-flat tyres on the rear (275/35/R19) go for over 400 pound each), with a whole set in excess over 1,300 pound. Could you advice what a more budget friendly solution could be? Would it be wise to buy 17" alloys for example? I don't care so much about the look of my wheels in winter time, with safety being the priority. Much appreciated if anybody could advise...
