What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

finally got round to replacing the park brake button, note there are 2 types, short prong and long prong so you need to check and make sure your order the right switch!
  4. Thank you, that's £10 donated - very happy to do so for the valuable help you have offered!
  5. @BFleming You are a star! With your very helpful advice (better than all the turbo reman companies or turbo garages who wanted to refurbish my dead part or who wanted to sell a complete turbo unit at £1600 + labour + VAT + everything else!) I was able to buy a brand new actuator from eBay with part number - 6NW010430-35 ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303181979525) for £70 inc free delivery and had it fitted for £40! So this part is plug n play, no need for "calibration". She has got her mojo back and is pulling like a trooper! Hopefully this thread will help anyone else in the same predicament. Now I can get on with styling mods! @BFleming Thanks again, please nominate a charity of your choice, I will be glad to make a £10 donation for your valuable advice! Conclusions If something doesn't make sense to you then you've probably been given incorrect or biased information. Keep at it until you find a solution. The garage I bought the car from must have installed an incorrect part for my car/model/engine - the part was obviously refurbished but it worked for a while. So even though it's working now, I don't know if this is a permanent fix. I'll update the thread when/if the situation changes.
  6. thanks mate, appreciate your help!

@Phil_530d love the new look! Yes I think I'll follow your approach and keep the originals to sell or swap back. Rather be safe than sorry. @DarenF - haven't ordered yet. was thinking of buying these ones, more expensive but have top reviews. Maybe Phil_530d can advise where he got his from? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VV9LKK5/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A2KVF7QXNCLV8H&psc=1

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Sorry, newbie question. I want to replace the chrome grille with black M5 ones, I've seen youtube videos show its a simple pull and swap. But also seen one where they take out some screws from the top after opening the bonnet and access the grille area from the back - so not sure option 1 or 2? I also wanted to fit some coloured strut covers (the V pipes, not sure what the official name is!) as shown in link below: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002253403678.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.56274c4dotq3Oh But, I have these radiator covers in mine, you can see behind the grille - how do I remove them? Can't find a youtube video that shows this.
  11. Help please £5 to charity of your choice for each picture confirming part number for: If anyone has a B47 520d 190bhp engine, would you mind taking a picture of your unit's part numbers and post back please?
  12. I have a favour to ask. It could be that the dealer has replaced the part with an incorrect part number for my engine which is why it seems impossible to find an exact replacement. If anyone has a B47 520d 190bhp engine, would you mind taking a picture of your units part numbers and post back please? I contacted those two companies two posts above this, here's their responses: ECUTesting: We have seen these system types in before however unfortunately with the version of software they contain, we are unable to decode them to run them up on our testing equipment. So we are unable to test them as if they are on the vehicle so on this occasion it wouldn't be something we can assist with. Actronics: If the unit has been worked on before, our success will depend on the methods previously used on the unit. In some instances repairs are a one time repair which would render the unit end of life if it fails again. Grosvenor Motor Company:The actuators are setup, adjusted and paired to the turbo itself rather than the car. You can swap this over without coding but may still have issues as the turbo won't be setup to the actuator 100%.
  13. that's excellent feedback - thank you! I will contact ECUTesting for advice. I do believe they are plug and play as I've seen videos where they refurbish and calibrate the units independent of the turbo and then ship back! like this one here:
  14. Thanks, will consider this option - I think it's the final solution really.
  15. Thanks for all the responses. Well spotted! The handwritten 430 indicates that this part was a replacement for an original. The dealer confirmed some turbo work was done just before I bought it and showed an invoice of approx £1000 for the job. Unfortunately, he gave a warranty of 6 months which expired 3 months ago I would have used a refurbish company but I have two problems, firstly this part is refurbished already so ideally looking for a genuine item and secondly, to send the part off for refurbishment requires the car to be unavailable while the part is being worked on - I don't have a spare car to use. I don't know whether it's safe to drive the car without the actuator. So I am a bit stuck, I can't find the exact part number, I DON'T want to spend the money quoted for a new or refurbished whole turbo unit, I am happy to risk buying the part on ebay for a much lower cost and have my garage install it same day and see if it works. I'll give it a few more days to see if anyone else has had this problem before - I can't be the only one!
