How is it on a hot start? Wondering if it on the exhaust side of breathing. Try not to overthink it though, it will consume you lol

Pick wisely, a crap one {from experience ) is a messy inconvenience. I've had a cheaper on of the same design as on that picture and an electric one. Both were a royal pain in the butt. But that was MY experience.

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Stumbled from one problem to the next Reapplied butyl tape to the rear door panel and tried to dry carpets as best I could. Finished the Coolant bleed and started the car for the first time in a about a month or so. Was a rattly cold start. Snapped the bonnet release cable. I can "pop" the bonnet but not release the latch. So I think it's the cable between the 2 latches. Any ideas?

I think what's happen wind with mine is some has been a naughty boy. It has has white paint thrown over it and then resprayed. The blood has bad paint on it including rotational scuff marks on the rearr glass where a disc had gone against it. Bonnet looks like it seen walked on as cracked paint. It's weird. Shame it's that colour green as I can't find any others to donate their panels.

Thanks, to clarify... Drain holes in the door or the floor? And here's my car feeling sorry for itself with offending aforementioned lacquer peel

I'll order that butyl tape tonight and tackle it later in the week. Will I need any spare trim clips etc?

the problem with me is that a decision is never made i cant decide wither im indecisive or not. You also touched on something there, there is a value to the learning . if i lose a a bit i don't mind too much. Plus it was in my head that if the car is that cheap, i only had so much i could lose. I'd be gutted if I bought a 3k car to find that the head gasket or gearbox was tanked. This would make a godo parts car as, mechincally ,its very good. ( a Sally Gunnell of a car)

by the time its had a new MOT. about £1750 , its not a lot (grand scheme) but thats about 750 more than its worth. its has coilovers and tatty wheels and bodywork and served as a way of venting time and frustration in the summer lockdown
