    530i transmission 'bump'

You can change the adaptation values in order to change the shift characteristics of the transmission. Before I had the XHP app, I used to use Tuner pro to open the transmission BIN file and edit the line pressure, shift times, along with upshifts and downshifts. Check out the XHP app, I thing you will find it useful. If you don't already have a cable for vehicle, see Cable Shack.

You could also just monitor the transmission up shift and down shift points along with line pressure. Compare that to the adaptations, and see if anything is out. If it is, then simply relearn the gear box adaptations. If everything is good with readings, then you have an internal issue that needs to be addressed.

What did you do to your E60/61 today?

This comes down to how much you are looking to spend Vs Ride quality. After a week or two of driving, the majority of coil overs will sag and the adjusting rings don't do enough to take the "bounce" out of your ride Quality. Solutions will include things searching for different spring rates, to custom fixes like using motorcycle cover springs. KYB a set for the BMW, You might start there.

    xHP information (myth busting)

xHP has a feature that let's you see the current adaptions and condition of your transmission befor you go ahead with the purchase. I have 2 vehicles with xHp and about to add a 3rd. One of them has 130xxx kms on the xHP tune?

What did you do to your E60/61 today?

2008 LCI N54 - I removed the oil filter housing assembly to replace the gaskets. Removed the intake manifold for valve cleaning. Installed new pulleys and tensioner along with new belt. Had to wait for the valve cover gasket due to stock. When that shows up, and gets installed, will be I stalling all new vacuum lines as well. Transmission filter and fluid will be next because I will be adding the xHP tune to it next. Already have it on two of the other cars.

E61 LCI USB won't connect to idrive

Add music to a jump drive and plug that in to the USB in the center console, it will play music. If you have a Sony phone, it will play music from your phone because Sony has a player for those applications. Samsung and other Android phones that I have tried will not work. All the USB will do is charge your phone. Plug into the 3.5mm and see if that works by selecting the greyed out AUX tab. If that works, then the system is completely functional.

    XHP advice.

I have XHP on the X5 35d with a malone tune - no wear issues. Also have it on the 335d, and about to do the 535i. The xHP went on at about 85xxx kms and I now have 236xx kms - no issues When I first got the app, any changes you wanted to do had to be done on a laptop (I used tuner pro). For battery support, I use a Schumacher smart charger. It maintains battery state of charge with over charging or inducing electrical "noise" to your can bus and D can lines.
  10. The Sealey VS820 is awesome, and way faster than my alternative method. There have been a couple of times that I didn't have mine and simply did the old drip bleeding method. For this, you also don't need a second person. I recently bled my E60 530Xi like that after replacing both rear hoses. Absolutely no issues with pedal travel after and no DSC/ABS lights.

Check control service reset - how?!?

Atlastabeema stated correctly in the first post when he stated "had to renew the brake wear sensor before the system allowed me to reset it". I have had customers come to see me with fresh brake pads and worn sensors. If you change the pads before the warning light goes red, then you can reset it. Replace the sensors and your issue will be resolved.
  12. I've only owned one F series, and didn't have any issues with it. Terminal 15 refers to Ignition. Check the relay that controls the IGN circuit. Follow that up with all fuses that are fed off of that circuit. I could send you a wiring diagram but not sure if it would held, cause we are LHD.

    Auto 'box fill plug???

If your transmission is empty already, try this: Go to front of the vehicle and locate the transmission cooler. Place a pan underneath to catch drips. Remove the hose that says "TOP" on it. Onto the exposed aluminum end, install 1/2" ID and fit the other end of the to the container containing your new fluid. In this case I'm simply using a spray bottle that can be pressurized. It holds 2 liters at a time and has measurements on the side so I know the correct amount of fluid was I stalled.

  15. Hello all, I just picked up another E60 (2008) with the N54 at an auction. The car had no keys. Called the locksmith and he showed up with his machine, plugged it into the car, and said that the CAS had been updated by BMW and he was unable to procede. We checked 2 other E 60s and were able to access the key info. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it possible to down grade the CAS to previous version before BMW locked it? Ive already order another key from BMW, but would like to resolze this for the next time i buy another car without keys.
