They were great up unti the car was broken for spares in 2014, but never had any issues with the poly bushes! Unfortunately the car was hit and the front was badly damaged so it was parted out, Shame as I really miss that car.

Leo aka Horse-On-Wheels_MS reacted to cornershop in End tuning M50 chip
On the off chance whilst visiting my mum in Wolves, I managed to agree a visit to see Enda in Birmingham for one of his chips last night.

Enda explained the benefits of the chip, especially for the pre vanos M50 which has to cater for 91 Ron fuel as it has no knock sensors.
    Standard rev limit.
95 Ron with 97 potentially required if ‘pressing on’ in hot weather. I’m running Esso 97 anyway, mainly for its lack of ethanol and detergent levels.
New chip burned, old one supplied if I decide to revert to standard.

Car felt great one the way home - as Enda advised, everything just felt that bit crisper than before and you can definitely feel improvements in part throttle responses.  Foot down from 70mph and the shove is more immediate, with less lag.

MPG was marginally better at 0.5-1 mpg improvement according to OBD for a 1.5 hour journey at 70-75 mph on the speedo

So far, I’d consider it a no-brainer for £60 fitted. Will report back after more local miles.

    Hello all,
I wanted to start a thread and share my story on my E34Ix that I acquired totally by accident last year in November without seeing it or test driving it! (what could've gone wrong lol), and how I discovered that I bought an absolute lemon(that is somewhat worth saving)
    The story:
Back in September 2019, I had saved up and then I was looking for a project car that I can use to commute and I was in the market mostly for an e30 or e36 and I would only consider an e34 and e39 under certain conditions and one day I was scrolling through an overpriced e30 and I caught a glimpse of an e34 and as I looked into it and found out it was an ix which is quite rare now especially in red, as I thought it would be a good base to put down more power or I could rwd it if I don't fancy it down the line, my biggest concern was it being a cloth interior automatic(wanted a manual) with a tired paintwork but I went for it anyway so the journey begins by paying £1.7k for the damn thing...
    Specsheet:

    Better picture coming soon

Nice to see another E34 being saved. I bought my 520i in November too, and really should start a project thread, but haven't done too much with it. Only issue with ix being "quite rare" is the likewise rareness of parts.
Why do you say it's a lemon.............how bad is the rust? Doesn't look too bad from the pics but they always look like that LOL, until you start digging. I still haven't been brave enough to take off my sills.
We like plenty of pics, even the ugly ones, so keep them coming.

i see my topic in the wanted section has been deleted, i dont see the point in this, i have 3 bmw's and only want to do a deal with somebody else on here. i feel this goes against the whole idea of a bmw forum, is it not here to help eachother out??? and not have to look elsewhere ??? i have read the rules but as far as i can see i may aswell be a member of a sewing circle for homosexual panda bears, as i cant seem to use this forum for much at all.

525iX wheels have an offset of ET54. You'll probably be able to fit E46 (ET46) and some E36 wheels (ET41). Or keep your eyes open for the Alpina Allrad wheels.
    See http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/w ... pgrade.htm
    And from elsewhere:
    I have a 03/1993 525ix Touring.
    Normal alloy wheels are : 16x7.5 ET 54, with 225-55-16 95V tyres.
Of course, the "ET54" is our problem as all other 5-series wheels have an ET20 ...
On the Alpina version of the "ix" (=B10 allrad), Alpina uses 17x8, ET46 with 245-45-17 tyres. I never tried those wheels but the "ET46" is a very good news here as for the E46 3-series, all big alloy wheels are in ET46 or ET47.
A little bit of calculation here :
From 7.5 to 8 inches : it makes a 12,5 mm wider wheel.
So it makes 6,25 mm more at the inside and at the outside of the wheel.
From 54 to 46 mm for ET : it is a 8 mm move to the outside
In total, with a 17x8 ET46 wheel, the internal side of the wheel stays at about the same place (1,75 mm total move) while the outside goes 14,25 mm larger.
So, first idea : look at the E46 3-series wheels BUT look for enough place for the brake disks --> test on front and rear before you buy !
Another possible wheel : some E36 3-series wheels are 17x8.5 ET41. Some more calculations will show you that, like for the 17x8 ET46, the inside doesn't move but the outside is 25 mm larger to the ouside.
I made a testing mount with such a wheel on my car but WITHOUT tyres (so I didn't drive with them ...). It looks that it still stays inside under the wings but you must test it with tyres to be sure ...
Anyway, pay attention to the quality of the alloy wheel, the 525ix is much more heavy than any 3-series, so you'd better take a STRONG wheel if you don't want to bend or break it on a damaged road.
    About the tyre :
Both 235-45-17 and 245-45-17 are OK but the I find the 245 too large for 17x8 wheel and they are more difficult to buy, so my advise is :
    17x8 --> 235-45-17
17x8.5 --> 245-45-17 (must be tested, you maybe need to bend and "stretch" the wings to keep the tyre under the car)
Now, what do I have on my "ix" :
For the winter tyres, I have the normal ix alloy wheels 16x7.5 ET54.
For the summer, I have M3-Kontur (E36 M3 style) alloy wheels since about 3 months now :
    - 17x8, ET39 (modified ET35 wheels to get an ET39)
    - 235-45-17 93V from "Federal" (no top quality tyres but rather good and damn cheap ... as I wasn't sure the car would drive OK with the new wheels, I didn't take the risk of buying Dunlop or Pirelli for the first time).
---> And YES, the ix is completely OK on the road with those wheels, so I'm now very happy and my car looks at lot better ...

The E36 Alpina wheels are the same size and offset as the E34 B10 Allrad wheels but much easier to find.

    E36 17" classic alpina wheels.

BTW you can fit staggered wheels if you fit the same size tyres or even different sized tyres as long as you get the same rolling radius.

Well that’s a start. I suppose for me I’d be happier dealing with nuts and bolts of an engine build rather than wiring etc to fit the m54.

It it would be a nice swap though.

My mate built a 3.0 engine using M54 crank/rods/pistons into the M50 in his E36, with a pair of schrick cams, an M3 exhaust manifold and decent system,  larger injectors, a few other minor mods and a good tune, it makes a solid 250hp at the crank, 60 more than it did originally. Cams aside, you can find the parts pretty cheap and keep the engine looking virtually standard. The Bore on the 2.5, 2.8 and 3.0 are all the same so as long as the bores are good, it's a drop in swap.

Just recently won an auction and got hold of a 525ix everything happened within 3 days, I am quite pleased when we drove it home with no issues but a minor vibration when braking, it would be better if it was a manual though
Can anyone tell me the rarity of this beemer?
    thanks
