  1. Hello all, I starting to hit a brick wall with getting my 87' 528i running. As previously stated to starts up, but only very briefly, then dies. Changed the majority of the fuel system, which seems to be fine (both pumps running, no clogged lines). I've also replaced the ECU along with some of the ignition system. I've done a check lot of different checks, even with an old fuel injector plugged into the harness with a hose pipe on the back of it. When I cranked it over there'd be only one spray of water then nothing. Which I guess could suggest there isn't the appropriate signal coming from the ECU. If anyone had litterly any suggestions i would be very grateful, to check voltages or resistance. I've gone through the typical non-starting check guides, but absolutely anything would be appreciated. Thank your time, sorry for such a long post, Luke. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

    I've found a large c clip/washer that's missing from the back, so really just waiting on that at the moment. The diagram is was very helpful.

    Okay, i ripped the whole system out and nothing has seem to have changed. I'm know suspecting timing as it starts then very quickly chokes to death, sometime back firing. what do you think?

    Hello again, My scorpion 737 immobilizer isn't working, I don't have the fob and when I turn the key in the top nothing happens. I've managed to bypass it and run a wire directly to the fuel pump and it runs fine, but how do I get the system to work with the immobilizer without the fob or any knowhow.     For additional information, the key barrel comes completely out when you pull the key out and the door doesn't lock.
  7. The lock barrel doesn't seem to want to stay in, should they be a retaining clips on the rear of the barrel? In addition to, is the end of the barel sheered? Any help is appreciated. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

    Fuel Pump Relay Rocomendations

    I know I've posted quite a bit recently, but i'm getting close(ish) to getting it started. i'm waiting on a lift pump and in need on a new fuel pump relay, it'll be for a 1987 528i se and the part number on the old one is 90 158 189. Cheers in advanced, Luke

    I've taken out the old tank, and glad i did as the breather had completely rotted through, i just need your advice on the what do with the sender unit. Is it worth trying to clean the existing sender unit with the supply pump within the tank, or should just a new unit with pump fitted? Cheers, Luke

    Is it a mater of just swapping over the tanks and keeping the sender units and getting new pumps which are for the original car?

    I've recently brought a 1987 528i and the tank is generally got covered in grime an varnish. The good thing is that the previous owner know this and had brought another tank and put in the boot, but it's got a different sender unit. Both tanks look very similar but the newer one is a lot cleaner. Could i get any recommendations on what to do (both original internal and external pumps needs replacing). I'll try and add some pictures, the newer, cleaner looking tank and sender unit doesn't have a internal pump (left) with the original on the right.

    Fuel Pump Recommendation

    Hi all, I've recently brought 528i that hasn't ran for 10 years. I've pretty much got it going, but the external fuel pump doesn't seem to work. so does anyone have a good suggestion for a high pressure external fuel pump that would work in a 528i. Many thanks Luke.
