    CD changer jammed.

Anyone any idea how to un jam the CD magazine on my E61 lci? It was working fine then stopped. Tried ejecting it but it gives up half way. I'm guessing the disc may have got stuck. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    A brief guide to E61 2.0d ownership.

It's finally back!!!! Engine, clutch, timing chain all done! Also an ECU fault rectified, EGR and DPF done. Like new now. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    2010 520d (N47) M-Sport Timing Chain Conundrum

I bought mine knowing the chain had been done by BMW 20k previous. Ended up with failed Injectors, seized oil pump and a knackered crank! You just never know. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    2010 520d (N47) M-Sport Timing Chain Conundrum

Can't comment on the chain issue, but big bills are where I am at the moment. Unfortunately, nearly all modern cars have inherent issues that could land you with that sort of bill, irrespective of manufacturer. My 08 5series is having an engine fitted now, and we are changing the chain as a precaution. It seems that everything you buy is a gamble. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

We are replacing the chain on the replacement engine as a precaution while it's out. New clutch as well. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    A brief guide to E61 2.0d ownership.

I hope it offers an insight for potential purchasers. It's costing around the same as the purchase price to put right, but at least it will be good when done. I could have bought something else but maybe with similar problems lurking. Better the devil you know. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
  9. As some of you already know, my bargain E61 LCI has turned out to be a bit of a problem child! I bought it with 170k on it for £2500. It has service history, and the timing chain was done by BMW at 140k, so all good I thought. After a day the engine management light came on along with the DTC light that was on when I collected it. Got the codes read and it pointed to DPF and EGR. Got the EGR done and a replacement manifold as it was cracked and had the swirl flaps removed. ABS unit re coded and all good. 200 miles later it disappeared in a cloud of white smoke on the M5. Got it running and limped to Torquay. On recovery to the garage I'm using it turns out 1 injector has failed, the oil pump has seized and the crank is scrap! Second hand engine now fitted with recon turbo and injectors but now it's overfueling and looks like an ECU issue. Not much more that can go wrong really! Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Latest update is that it has knocked out the big end on no.1! [emoji22][emoji22][emoji22] Now looking at costs of rebuild, recon, or second hand engine. Sent from my SM-T365 using Tapatalk

Alas, as is often the case it only covers the initial failure. So the injectors possibly, but not any other resulting damage. Not got much choice but to push on with it now. Not worth anything as it is. At least I'll know it's good when it's done. Just hope it's not too bad. Sent from my SM-T365 using Tapatalk
