    Wiper linkage failed

Time is the issue for me. I work away all week and need the car for a trip to Torquay this weekend. I'll do most things myself usually. I do wish I'd kept my old E320 merc though, this car has been so much trouble. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Wiper linkage failed

I knew it was on it's way out, just hadn't got round to it. As I say, I can probably get a genuine one with discount through work and if it's worth the extra few quid that's the way to go. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Wiper linkage failed

On my way home today when the drivers side wiper arm fell off! The bearings have disintegrated and the arm is had it. Had a look and there are repair kits, but seems like a lot of messing, or lots of pattern arms on Ebay. Other option is genuine, and I may get trade discount. Any suggestions on the quality of the pattern ones? Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
  5. Car has been to Sytner in Tamworth today. Service was excellent, mine only needed the check and grease work. They also did a vehicle health check and didn't find any major issues. The work was done in 3hrs and the car was washed and vacuumed when I collected it. Don't ever use main dealers, but if I did have to then I'd go there again. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
  6. Mines in next Thursday. Wanted to take it to Stratstone in Derby but their recall booking system is online only and it took them 4 days to call me back by which time I got it booked in with Sytner in Tamworth with a 2 minute phone call. So much for online being more efficient! Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Lock up your cats?

Some vehicles are more of a target as the CAT is easy to access. I wnt to collect a Ford Ranger from a dealer in Southampton to go to auction. Started it up and realised the cat was missing. When they checked 8 had been taken ! Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    E61 buyers guide??

If you are thinking 2.0d then have a look at my post, A brief guide to 2.0d ownership. It gives you an idea of the worst that can happen, bearing in mind I bought it on the strength of the timing chain having been done by BMW only 20k earlier. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
  9. Is it possible to replace the battery in these keys? Also, I only have the 1 key. Any suggestions on where to get a spare and how much? Thanks Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Instability

In that case, I think a more in depth investigation is required. Is it a similar system to my old Mercedes where you still have springs but the air bags do the levelling? The Merc was hydraulic and messy when it failed!!! Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Thinking about it still, do all E61's have rear air suspension or was it optional? Still finding it very wayward at speed. Wondering if the shocks are worn out. It has done 174,000 miles ! Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Instability

I have known that before. I had new drive tyres on my truck at work (Michelins) and they made it frightening to drive for about a week! Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Only other thing is front tyres are run flats rears are not. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

No, tracking is good. Even wear on the front. Tyre pressures also good. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Instability

So, hot on the heels of the engine issues, now resolved, comes my new problem! I noticed the car being very unsettled and thought it was down to worn rear tyres. Had them done and it's no better. On the motorway today at about 80mph I went to change lane and the car suddenly felt like it was about to go into a spin to the extent it put the traction control light on. Around town it feels fine but in a straight line at any sort of speed it does not fill me with confidence. I'm guessing at maybe subframe bushes but any other ideas?
