  1. Hi, has anyone had a problem with water making it's way into the plastic storage area in their boot? A few times now i've had to mop it up. I thought it was water dripping into that area when the boot lid was open. So I looked tonight and it has about 1cm of water in the compartment again. I haven't opened the boot for a few days since I last mopped up the water.

It's a high pitched squealing I can hear in the car. Going in to get looked at tomorrow so will hopefully know a little more then.

Following. Has anyone had this working on an f10 n47? I have followed all the instructions but when I get to the add display section at the end, only the standard options are available

Took a short recording of the noise I'm getting this morning. More obvious at the beginning of the video, like a high pitched squeal/ scraping noise. Going to get it looked at again over the weekend.

Yeah, the clutch was supplied as a kit, which included the release bearing and fork. I wasn't present when the guy replaced the parts but he did show me the old clutch/flywheel and chain kit that was removed from the car. The old flywheel was rattling when he shook it so it definitely needed replaced. I double checked again this morning. You can definitely hear the noise whilst revving the car stationary and bringing the clutch to biting point with the brakes applied. Not as loud as when driving the car - but definitely there and worse when up to temperature. I'll pass this info onto the garage, it will maybe help them with identifying where the noise is coming from. I dont have access to ramps to remove undercovers etc or i wouldve had a look myself. Funny you mentioned the slight knocking noise related to the rubber coupling. I have noticed a slight knock whilst in stop start traffic...

Thanks for the pointers. I'm planning to get it back into the garage to have it looked at again. So can ask they look at what has been suggested. I'm at my wits end with it to be honest. I'm not enjoying the car at all as I'm constantly listening out for this noise lol. One of the ways I can recreate the noise other than driving the car, is if I park up and keep my foot on the brake, put it into gear and bring the clutch up to biting point almost stalling, it then starts to make the screeching noise. Also if I rev the car whilst stationary and clutch depressed, you can slightly hear the noise. If I rev with the clutch pressed to the floor, the noise is almost inaudible. This is making me think that it's something in the drive train. Clutch or dmf. I'll feedback what the garage has to say.

Quick update. Noise from the car is gradually getting worse again, regardless of just replacing chains, dmf and clutch. Is it possible that the new dmf can be failing already? Could anything contribute to premature failure?

    Cam Cover Oil Leak N47

Had my timing chains replaced a few weeks ago. After a few days, I noticed some smoke coming from under the bonnet. I pulled over and noticed I had a slight oil leak from the rear of the cam cover and the oil was dripping down onto the catalytic converter which was causing the smoke. The gasket was replaced when the chain was being done. So, last week the car was back in to have the gasket replaced again. Long story short - it's still slightly leaking. Is there a breather on the crankcase which needs replaced as per the old m47? Is there anything else i should be checking that could be contributing to this? Car is a 2012 F10 520d Cheers

Further update, issue has not been totally resolved. Despite new timing chain kit, clutch and flywheel the noise whilst under load is still present. Not as bad as it was before, but still there and more obvious when the engine is warm. I'm at a complete loss now, (hoping it's not the same as superswede and looking at a new gearbox) will need to take it back into the garage again to see if they can find anything. Looking to have them check the gearbox, diff, propshaft coupling and centre bearing. Anything else I have missed?

    Scraping/rattling noise 520d

Update on the issues I was having with the scraping noise under acceleration. Had my car in to have the chains, clutch and flywheel replaced and the guy who was carrying out the work found the top chain guide broken in half, all other guides worn and the oil pump chain stretched. The noise I was experiencing has almost cleared up completely. I can still hear the faintest of noises but I'm sure I can live with it for the moment (until my wallet recovers). Pictures attached
