    Rattles and annoying noises

Hi I hope everyone well. Update to my rattle, it returned back, I just fed-up from this. The other day I had a ride in my friend 2017 530e it was silent. As I lost faith in any BMW dealer to fix that I solved the problem by giving this car to my wife and bought me 335d xDrive and its a treat though I miss the driving assistance plus in the my G30, but at least got me a very fast car without a rattle. Next time I would buy the car from local dealer from 1st day a problem occur will return the car for a full refund, not accepting any fix promises as there is a chance they will not deliver & be stuck with a car you hate.

I am happy to announce the rattling noise is sorted. Last visit to Bowker BMW Preston another technician came with me for a test drive. After acknowledging there is rattling again, this time they kept the car for 3 days, they said they did a video and send it to Germany (why they did not do that form the 1st visit)??!!!. On the 3rd day they called me to pick up the car as it was sorted. Till now no more rattle. On the service invoice their comment was Investigated rattle from rear of vehicle - noise found to be coming from NSR amplifier bracket, readjusted, applied anti rattle tape, fault rectified. I hope I will never hear that rattle again, it was a nightmare. Hope anyone has a rattle to be sorted soon and not have the same as me back and forth to dealership.
  4. Indeed its a quick - but also time flies Near future the one may see facelift every year like mobile phones . They call it facelift, but there are noticeable differences. I see E60 and F10 almost the same between the original & facelift. I had to bring both cars photos trying to discover the difference. Still for people which aren't BMW fan without number plate would not discover the difference between old or new BMW. Like me with Merc or Audi I still find BMW has a modern look from E60 and up that the one can't make a difference unless indicated by number plate. That would not means old BMW's are not beautifully designed (I wish I collect them all, but then I will be in dilemma what to drive when going out). People which aren't BMW fan for them its only matter how new is your BMW, somewhat ruin your happiness about the car if you put their words into your head as for them New Dacia better than old BMW (may that coming form envy ).
  5. Today I came cross BMW Facebook advert about the new facelift 7 series, also watched detailed outside and inside review on YouTube. As the upcoming facelift of the 5 series which I would suspect to be similar to the new facelift 7 series shape evidence when comparing G11 to G30, so how everyone feel about the upcoming 5 series facelift? I would suspect the 5 series facelift to be be next year as the 7 series (G11) was here in 2016 and now introducing the facelift to be available in April 2019. Myself; Outside - not keen to the super large nostril (kidney grill), but I liked the rear light especially the continuation bar between the 2 back lights. Inside - not much difference apart from the electronic instrument cluster which is nice, but I still prefer the old one especially with heads-up display as I currently have, it is useless to have the navigation in the middle of the clusters as I rarely look there. I think they will also intoduce the laser light as the 3 series. So what do you think people?

Update about my last visit to North Oxford BMW seeking a fix, driven by Andrew experience of fixing his rattle by this dealership. After driving nearly 4 hours early starting early in the morning, I reached Oxford when I noticed that even though there were many rough roads there the rattle was completely dead. I dropped of the car. Around 5 PM they called me saying no noise detected. I explained my misery to the agent, when he symmetrize with me and asked if they can keep the car for the next day to be tested again. I stayed in a hotel for that day. In the morning they called me request me to come for a ride with the chief technician Chris to identify the rattle. We drove around 15 min without any sound. Again he sympathize with my situation and appreciate the long drive and staying in a hotel all for the sake of fixing that rattle. He decided to do what he did to Andrew car. At 4:30 PM got the car back & drove back home. Next day, the rattle showed again :(( I really appreciate North Oxford (Chris) effort to sort this out, better than my lazy Bowker dealership. I am sure if Chris heard the noise he would do his best to fix it. Not sure what next to do, Chris suggested that if the wield fix did not work may need to try to replace the top mount of the suspension as one of the member of the forum did. But now the problem is with cold weather. As car need to be not that cold to show the problem and if it stayed at the dealership outside for long they would say its fixed while its just the cold weather did the trick.

On Thursday car went to Bowker 6th time, again technician came with me and I drove on bumpy road, then tester sat at the back when rattle disappeared, he went back with bench seat problem and again they say fixed it by glue and dumper cloth. And guess what? nothing changed rattle is there next day. I called again today and the lady said well I book you on the 5th of December for 2 days job and will give you curtsey car. Even though I gave the technician all the suggested fix from this forum, but he ignored all my effort of searching and printing the people experience. I am thinking more seriously to replace the car now with Audi, but what would be the damage who knows, especially with high options car. I may go next week to Audi dealership & see how much they take this faulty car obviously I will not say anything about rattle. I am thinking if I go to Oxford (Andrew dealership) may be just wasting time and effort and more than 6 hours driving, just thinking about it make me frustrated about the idea I return back and rattle coming back with me :(( I will try another Bowker branch (Blackburn) instead as huggy said he had better experience with them. Booked on the 6th of December so I can have a curtsey car. I went to Audi dealership just to have an idea what would be the damage if I give them this car for A6 (with nearly all my G30 options) and the damage is nearly 15K. oh dear my car just over 1000 miles.

Thanks dicky.hillary for your input. I came to the forum again as I am collecting all solutions and going to print them out & present them to Bowker dealership, as I am giving them last chance to fix that, after that will seek other dealership. And will include your comment too. I send 2 emails to the original dealership Kings Lynn where I bought the car from, and the after sale manager ignoring me, last email I threaten that if I do not reach a resolution to this I would seek a legal advice about returning this manufacture faulty car for refund or replacement. Still silent. I will not give up, just the cash deposit for this car could bought me a nearly new F10 (2015)

I am thinking to hold all the purse to tackle the noise, as it is greatly reduced to nearly null this time. I do not think it fixed itself (even though I hope so) but seems the cold weather playing a major part in reducing the noise. So I think its futile to challenge the dealership about fixing a noise which is not even heard by me with my tuned ears (noise radar). Let see when the weather comes warm again. Last resort if all my effort wasted without fixing the noise, I will live with it (utilizing BMW advanced audio system), till the end of 4 years & replace the car may be with Audi this time. Thank you everyone for their input. I will keep updating if anything happen like noise returning & managed to fix it. LeoDude out

Thank you. The front belt buckle is a pain too, I was surprised that they did not rectify it in G30 as F10 had the same issue. And many things in F10 they enhance it i.e. they made it more convenient in G30.

I just called North Oxford service department and quoted the name of the servicing agent that Andrew dealt with (dug it from your old post Andrew :)) but unfortunately he left the dealership, but Chris at the workshop is still there. As expected they are not that flexible with customer demands, the agent didn't even check with Christ about the problem even when I asked her she just ignored me, she only wants to book in (Book in and ask later) they would not care I guess if they end up saying fixed and its not like Bowker. Anyway I booked it on 17th of December and agent said she left a note to be looked by Chris. A bit hesitant to go to dealership as its more than 3 hours driving that's one way driving. They offer a courtesy car, but as they need it back on same day, would not be a viable option to return home and come back on the same day. I cancelled the booking with Bowker, but thought will give them last chance will print out in details what Andrew said when North Oxford dealer fixed his car & to ask them specifically to check that. If no joy, last resort to go to North Oxford in December.

Yea, I know the feeling, I was happy and still happy with the F10, but I hate commuting and was desperately looking for adaptive cruise control, more than a year looking in autotrader and BMW official nationwide stock, I was so obsessed that I was checking the photos of steering wheel to see if the adaptive button was there on not, as I could not rely on sale agents detail. As for a year with no joy I went to order my own car which cost me with options more than 50 grand and end up with rattle which I most hate in any car. Lucky me

Seems you also annoyed Bowker like me but the Blackburn branch. It is as you said the noise became much quitter as its turn to be cold these days, so that means the culprit shrinks in cold weather . It is a come and go fault. if it was a constant one, I could create a case to return back the car to dealer for a full refund as fault not rectified, but thinking if I do that it would be a headache. I was thinking to keep the car till a decent electric BMW surface, that is why I am so annoyed now, I put a lot of options to this car especially the driving assistant plus which the one rarely find in used or unregistered new cars stocks which I ordered this car just to add that option otherwise I be happy with my non rattling F10, which is now my wife's car. I am thinking to call North Oxford dealer as seems they fixed Andrew's car & see what they say if they recognise the fault over the phone either they be very kind to explain how to fix to Bowker or I drove there for them to fix even though its a long journey. Now myself thinking that next car purchase to check out Audi not only BMW, as I blindly just go to BMW like tunnel vision just see BMW.

Thanks for your input Andrew, which was the dealership which fixed your car and any particular name to mention when call them i.e. the person dealt with your case?, as I was planning to call dealerships and ask everyone if they have experience with such a thing, if one say yes and had a fix, will go there or see how they can communicate with the local dealer to suggest the fix. Today I went to Bowker BMW just to say I do not want to book the car, just want to leave a feedback, as the car not fixed (just in case they are happy I did not return thinking they fixed the problem). As the agent was saying well it may be the car designed like this, then I suggest if he can liaise with the used car department to let me drive G30 M Sport and see if would put me at ease as all G30's like that or not. So booked in on the 5th of November to do that. As I begun to be rattle freak and now driving my car without radio on, just listening to the rattle and been pissed. I need that drive.

Its not a matter of seatbelt rattles, I check that already, it felt coming from the rear passenger side door. Regarding the front passenger seat belt it is annoying as when twisted it can be trapped between the seat and the car body creating a rattle, it s a problem with F10 too, thought they would rectify it in G30 as some other things I noticed that they were annoying in F10, now with G30 they rectified them.
