    E39 528i SE or 530i Sport

Hi all, back to the fold.... Possibly interested in what's out there. Only really interested if it's a 530i Sport or 528i SE or Sport. Manual/Auto doesn't matter. I'm in Dorset, don't care about mileage. After decent history and good bodywork. Cheers Colin.

    That rust thing...

I spent £2500 on fixing rust on my two E39's. Cut out and weld new metal, it's the only way.

  8. Jumping from the battery was a bad idea, you should use the terminals under the bonnet.

    2001 E39 530i Sport auto £2200 SOLD

NOW SOLD E39 BMW 530i Titanium Metallic Silver 113600 miles Fully stamped history MOT Feb 2018 I've only just purchased this car, unfortunately I (stupidly) did not realise that I cannot use my no claims discount on two cars (already have a family car) therefore making this one super expensive for me to insure, even at my age. The car is in overall great condition. It has a fully stamped history and has had a lot of preventive maintenance. It's had a refurbished gearbox and new radiator and 4 Dunlop Tyres purchased in December 2016 that have covered less than 1000 miles. The bodywork has minor marks commensurate with it's age but nothing out of the ordinary. Almost everything's works perfectly. There are a couple of faults that I am aware of: The memo button on the radio is loose. The front cup holders do not work. The right rear ABS sensor requires replacing. It intermittently comes on the dash but will go off when the car is switched off and on again. It has just been diagnosed. The asking price reflects the work not being done. The sensor is £70 for a genuine BMW one and it's 40 minutes work to change it. I love this car and am gutted I have to sell it, but there's no way I can justify paying a hefty premium to insure it. That said the vehicle is insured at the moment and will be till it sells. I wouldn't buy a car without test driving it and I wouldn't expect anyone else to. Please make sure you are insured to drive other cars though if you want to come see it. The interior and sunroof photos are from the ad in June. I'm getting some better shots of it soon! The vehicle is now on Y653 UBY Please call me on 07875387217 for more info. The car is available now. I'm asking £2200 for it, I will consider offers but don't want to lose too much of my original purchase price! Thank you

    2001 E39 530i Sport auto £2200 SOLD

19-21 around town, 28-32 on a run. I had 35 mpg out of my old 530i before and 40 out of the 528i, but it was very boring.

    2001 E39 530i Sport auto £2200 SOLD

Thank you, yes I have tried everything, to the point of being a bit fed up of it! Looking to get an actual 25 plus year old classic now so I can get reasonable insurance, no one can quote me reasonably in this.
  15. Hi all. I'm paying a lot more on my car insurance that I thought I'd have to. Probably my fault for being naïve. Here's the situation. Car A is our family shed runabout. Insured with insurance company A using my full no claims bonus of several years. Both myself and my partner are on the insurance and it is reasonable. Car B (my 530i) Insured with insurance company B just in my name and with zero no claims bonus as I've never had to insure two cars before. Unfortunately I didn't realise until after I purchased this car that you can't have one lot of no claims on two cars (I should of really known that I guess) This means the 530i is costing me an absolute fortune to insure. Not more than I can afford but more than I can really justify. Insurance company A will not insure the 530i at all, and even if they did they say it would have to be at zero no claims still, as I'm using all my no claims (which apparently can't be divided) on car A. Obviously to keep everything legal I have done things properly, but now even though I've just got it I'm considering getting rid of the 530i as I begrudge paying so much to insure it. I'm told a multicar policy (which is insurance company B's speciality) would still mean NCD on only one of the cars. My partner has zero NCD. Taking the NCD off car A causes that one to sky rocket too. Is there anything I can do.. anything I'm not thinking about? I won't do anything illegal. Cheers!

Have I done this right? No claims discount.

Life's a bit different now. And I cannot use my 9 years no claims. I'm not about to do anything illegal, and insurance fraud is very, very illegal. I'd rather do it 100% legit or not at all. If an insurance company cancels your insurance you have to declare it for the rest of your life.. it'd cost way more than £1200 then!

The best is £1190 from Admiral. I'm 30 with no points and one non fault claim 4 years ago. The brokers said because I've just moved and registered here it will take months to register on their system as they can look up previous address. I've put down for 4000 miles a year. It's just not worth it, my previous 530i cost me about £350 a year!

It seem no one can give me a reasonable quote so I'm selling up! I'll become a gold member on here and place an ad. Thanks all anyway

Well I'm 30, driving for 12 years with a clean license!

Yes I did use a comparison site for the BMW and yes I did quite rightly state I have NCB on the other car, I don't think it made any difference at all. If I put the NCB into the BMW it literally halves (and then some) the insurance, but car A becomes just as expensive as the BMW... I haven't called insurance company B yet to see what they advise. I'm sure they'd be happy to give me a quote, alas my no claims can only be on one car. Also my partner can't go on the BMW's insurance, as she is less than 25 years old it's super expensive to do so on a 3 litre car, plus she has no interest in driving it and I wouldn't be too happy if she was! I don't know how it would work with two cars on one policy, one with two drivers and one with one driver.
  23. My right rear speed sensor is playing up causing the gearbox not to shift automatically. Intermittent at the moment.
  24. Hi all. My (new to me) 530i has the yellow TC, ABS and (!) appear when it's wet weather or when I've washed it. It will come on for a bit then go off, then on again. Any ideas on the culprit? Cheers.
  25. ColinE39

ABS and TC lights on in wet weather

Happened again today and the auto gearbox wouldn't shift automatically. I'm guessing the sensor is failing to communicate with the gearbox ecu.
