You are correct.  I’d be looking to get that changed soon.

Got it on a ramp to do the job. But saw a pink patch a mate of mine said the radiator looks like its leaking and I shouldn't change the coolant otherwise it could just come pissing out.

The coolant level hasnt gone down and it isn't wet it's just a pink patch. so am I looking at a new radiator ?

That's on the right hand side btw

For something that simple I'd just do it myself.

Had to do it on the E61 when I replaced the stat. I used premixed Comma G48 from Halfrauds.

Halfrauds also do a coolant change for 40 pounds.

Couldn't find a drain bolt either so will have to look into it which hose will need taking off

that oil is cheap because of the production date of 2018 ,all oils have a shelf life

The shipment i got had a production date of 2019. I also called castrol technical who said to me if its sealed it will have a shelf life of 5 years if opened you have a year to use it. But of course even if you get oil from anywhere it isn't going to be straight out of the refinery.

    A reply from them,

its been replaced with a new engine which had covered only 6000 miles , the reason the engine was replaced was due to turbo blowing up and causing engine failure at 204000, the engine was replaced along with a brand new turbo and gearbox oil service at the same time and has since covered 35000 miles without any problems and will continue to do so for a long time, any thing further please do not hesitate to get in touch.

If they can prove it all with the paperwork and you can call the garage who did the repair and see their reviews online etc. Then it is a serious contender. I would still keep changing gearbox oil every 40k and try to do oil changes at least at  7-10k.

Seen this F11 is still available on eBay. New engine put in at 200k miles with a turbo.

Leeds is a trek for me. So would need to do a phone call... what sort of questions should I ask on this apart from service history and oil changes. The mot history was decent. Think the last one did say it had some damage to the windscreen which needs replacing and an issue with the suspension arm ball joints.

is this car too risky at that price? I have been leaning toward the e61, but keep seeing these high milers getting closer to my budget.

So the doner engine only had 6k on it ?

They didn't really say why it was replaced. But if it's a dealer type place I'm sure they will give you some warranty. The price is affordable for the car. I suppose at that mileage it would be best to ask what else has been changed or suspension parts, etc.

Gearbox as well. If it hasn't had regular oil changes I guess that would be the next thing to  go

    Thanks Matthew.
What will be your advise on the Turbo replacement and Also the front lower control arm replacement. Will you recommend BMW again for that ?

On Turbo Replacement i have heard of quiet a few people using

Universal Turbos on the south coast and having their own re-manufactured.  Apparently they were also used by wheeler dealers

I bought the same last year from the same seller to keep both cars in our house in oil for a year. Although there was an issue with the sale that was beyond the sellers control I found them very helpful and easy to deal with on the phone and everything was resolved to my satisfaction so I'd recommend buying from them. The oil speaks for itself.

what was the issue you had ?

    Hi all

My brother has just joined the BMW owning fraternity and I’m keen for him to avoid the cost of main dealers - any recommends of good independent garages in Southampton? He’s on the Woolston side of town.

I used Bartley BMW a few times, they are all the way in Totton. There is another specialist in Hedge end but they were only like a few pounds difference with regards to servicing compared to the main dealer and they hardly pick up the phone.
