    520d MSport plus ????

Learned the hard way.... £65 a wheel to have them powder coated sorted that mess out.

    520d MSport plus ????

Plenty places around Glasgow, one in Kinning Park, Wheel Pro gets a good name. They did a 351 on my dads F10 after he lost an argument with a kerb at Glasgow airport.

    Run flat tyre choice

I bought Michelin Primacy 3 in that size in rft flavour from Amazon. Cheapest price by a long shot and its the only tyre in that size and rft that scores A rating for wet braking which is up there as being important characteristics of a tyre. You can repair some manufacturers of rfts for the record, link below from TIS. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f10-535i-lim/repair-manuals/36-wheels-with-tyres/2rx7r9o

    520d MSport plus ????

Be wary of dealers doing cheap refurbs just to sell the car on. Many won't remove the tyre from the wheel and don't clean them properly and lacquer over the dirt. Useful barging tool, remove ~£75 per wheel from the price to get it done properly somewhere else?

    hit and run this morning

As long as you are o.k that's the main thing. Looks like the damage is minimal so that's good. You are a lucky boy.

If it's 19" style 351 wheels (below) on a saloon then it would normally be a staggered set up.

    hit and run this morning

I hope you are o.k, @apples12. After being hit from behind I had a bit of back pain for a couple of weeks. Make sure you are o.k. first as cars can be more easily fixed than you! I take it the engine didn't cut out? Nor do you have any form of restraint system warning on the dash? That's usually an indication of the severity of the impact. Sounds like you have already made made your decisions not to inform your insurance company and I understand that as I'm bracing myself for my premiums shooting up this year after similar. I would get the car properly checked over for damage you may not have been able to see, but from what you have said it sounds fine. Once the bumper is of you can get a proper inspection of the bumper bar etc.

What were you doing when Chernobyl blew up?

I want to see that but I don't have Sky cos if I did I would just spend even more time watching the telebox!

Agree there does seem to genuine banter between the three in a far less scripted way although poor Chris was the butt of most of their jokes which did have me proper laughing at. What they didn't point out and I would be interested to know, that after the drag race that the Tesla mullered them on away from the line what was the range left on it? Drag starts like that must really hammer the battery and reduce range. A point more than demonstrated by Paddy's car with a stated range of 35 miles. 8 year old electric car with duff batteries isn't worth repairing, certainly not some horrible little snot box like the Nissan Leaf. They did point out that we will need fields of car parks filled with super charging points to cope with it, but who is paying for that? Where is the leccie coming from? We will almost need a new distribution grid with its excavations, ducts cables etc to make this happen and this is where the Government are sticking their head in the sand. Where is the electric infrastructure? I'll leave that one up to Boris or Jezza Hunt to sort out........ When the time comes to hang up the petrol pumps, I do fancy an electric classic, like the Spit-e-fire or the Maserati Bi-Turbo Edd China worked on in WD, not a soulless food blender that are currently available. But as long as there is a C63 or M3 or the Audi, I'll still take that over the Tesla.

    Fan/Blower not working

Who is your warranty with? Does the regulator you replaced need coding to your car? Fault may still be present until new unit is coded to your car as car still thinks there is a fault and won't operate it properly.

What were you doing when Chernobyl blew up?

Not a clue as I was 7 but I do remember seeing on John Cravens Newsround. Kids at school used to jokingly panic about getting wet in acid rain from the fall out.

Paddy McGuinness opens tonight's show with "Welcome t'Top Gear" I do like the accents, better than the usual polished BBC ones.

What did you do to your E60/61 today?

And failing against the consumers rights act 2015 etc supplying an item that wasn't in an acceptable condition for use. I used that against a bodyshop and they Sh!tted broken glass and got me sorted pronto.

It would be good to know what their response to your video is. Presumably you will share it with them?
  16. Take the wheels off and have a good prod around the discs. 7mm Allen key bit to take caliper off and 18mm socket for the caliper cradle. The front face might look ok but the back face may be worse as I found out to my concern on my F10 That was the source of my brake pedal vibration. New pads and discs sorted that.

    Blue smoke - Burning Oil

Turbos, valve stem oil seals, main rings. Difficult to confirm without poking about in its innards.
  18. This! They are rip off merchants now, they discount everything to make out you are getting a good deal, but you aren't really as you are just paying what you should. They make BMW main dealers look cheap in comparison! When I first used them 15 years ago for my E39 they were really good at their prices but I can't be bothered with their pricing strategy so they need to be carefully checked. Even with the discount of buy one brake disc and get one free, my F10 discs were cheaper sourced from my local main dealer than ECP! Plus I knew they would be right and fit without issue.

What did you do to your E60/61 today?

Was the crows foot spanner up to the job then? I had to hacksaw thru the balljoints on the lower arms after the nylon nuts locked themselves solid on the rusted threads. Not surprised you used a grinder!

Timing Chain is it time for the change.

Unless it's an N47 engine (520d) and to significantly lesser extent a 530d that sounds like I wouldn't do anything other than yearly or 10,000 mile oil changes to keep the chains sweet. Chains are at the back of the engine behind the flywheel so that's why it's an engine out job to do, hence quite expensive if it doesn't need doing. If you want to do it a preventative maintenance, it's a good shout. Petrol engines in the F10 range have chains at the front of the engine so would be much much cheaper but again only if it makes a rattle do you need to intervene other than halving the BMW recommended oil servicing interval.

    Smelly air con

Mould in the air con matrix if not used for a while, quite common. Dry out the matrix by running the heater full blast after using the air con to get rid of any condensation on it. The mould can grow in the condensate if it doesn't get a chance to dry out. You can buy an air con "bomb" which will clean it up a bit. I leave my air con on all the time and it doesn't smell. I did get a tiny whiff the first time I used the car after it had sat for ten days, but it disappeared as very quickly.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Only pennies? That sounds more like £20 notes falling out! Hope the warranty work was nothing serious?

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Just to confirm, 8, as in eight mpg? Sure you didn't miss a digit in front of the 8? What were you doing, driving with the handbrake on? Driving up a steep hill? I even got better than that towing a caravan with my E60, 21mpg, my worst ever mpg. Lol. But I bet you enjoyed those 7 miles in your machine. And that's what it's all about.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

What is that language you speak in? I'm experimenting on this tank full to drive a bit easier, so far after 60 miles its at 28.5 up over 2mpg better than long term average.
