    Heavy rain, Water leak

The fact that you can hear water sloshing is not a good sign and most likely points to a blocked scuttle and a fully composted up plenum chamber in front of the yellow grommet. The two chambers are linked by a hole in the body work. If one blocks it can drain via t'other. Problems arise when both are blocked......

Nearside (passenger side) scuttle drain is also probably blocked if you can hear water sloshing about.

Open door warning ( driving me nuts )

Water ingress in to the handle itself. Quite common fault on all makes of cars with comfort access. Wife had an issue on her Kuga due to that.

My dads 530d F10 was shod in Dunlop Sport Max rft as factory fit on staggered 19" set up. Planted.

Square set up is when you have the same size of tyre on all four corners. Staggered set up is when you have a wider rear tyre.

That will have been your issue, worn rfts, not the SE suspension. Worn rfts go off quickly and give a squirming feel especially at the front. I've had three SE suspension set up BMWs previously and they were nearly as competent in the bends in the F10 and in no way a problem at speed, even at speeds of 77mph the rfts on the E60s were fine with no issues. The F10 wins but that has double wishbone suspension up front over the E60 and E39.

and Lol this post is proof that a combination of sh1t tyres and driving like you stole it gives a bad ride. Atleast you know you can easily rectify it. a) fit decent tyres and b) listen to your wife. On that last point, don't let on that you've listened to her as you'll never hear the end of it and be expected to listen to her again and on a more regular basis.

BE AWARE !! - I nearly lost my pride and joy.

Certainly makes frightening reading. Main point is that you and anyone else in the house weren't physically harmed. Scroats, should be strung up from the nearest lamppost by their dangly bits.

    New BMW logo

It's just a bit flat and, well, boring. Looks like a poor print quality, when the black ink starts to run low. Its the continuation of the end, after the wrong wheel drive 1 Series......

    Brake pad warning sensor

I had to google it as I’d never reset the F10 system before I went to change my brake pads. I only found one post/YouTube video where someone said to release the parking brake. I guess I was lucky in that the first hit I found said to release it. To me it made sense that the parking brake needed to be off as traditionally I think the handbrake on light was the same as the pad wear warning system. Or the car needs to know it’s brakes are off before resetting. It’s even made its way into the motoring press that you first need to release the parking brake.

    When do discs need replacing?

Go to Realoem and find the correct new thickness for your car. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=FR72-EUR-01-2013-F10-BMW-535i&diagId=34_1823 Check on NewTIS what the minimum thickness is permitted. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f10-535i-lim_201301/repair-manuals/34-brakes/34-11-front-wheel-brakes/1VnYDBKOq4 Which is basically the new thickness less 2.4mm. New pads can only be fitted if the disc is above the minimum thickness stamped on the disc, which is not the absolute minimum disc thickness. If you feel a lip of more than 1mm on one side then I'd replace them regardless along with the pads.

I think that's where I went wrong, I really didn't have it that high.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

How did you torque the strut back up @bmwmike,? That's where I struggled to get in with a long enough torque wrench to get it tight enough. No moving the roll bar link out the way either? Lol I did that on your advice. 3 hours ain't bad. I took me way longer than that fighting to get the bolt done up!

Something is very wrong with it then if the Nissan can beat it in the bends. Mine is absolutely planted in the bends, I've got Michelin Primacy tyres running at door jamb pressures and it corners like it's on rails and it's the best car I've had in the twisty bits. Even on it's Contiwinter tyres I have confidence in the bends in the cold and wet. When pushing on I use the paddles to drop down to usually fourth for bends as I approach then power back on at the apex going back up the paddles. That's stil in comfort mode. Sport mode tightens up the gear changes and rarely changes up beyond 6th so you are in a lower gear for better engine braking approaching the bends. The traction control in the F10 allows far more slip before it intervenes compared to the E60 and E39 before it, mine very very rarely has to intervene to reign me in, in fact you can get the tail out albeit with provocation before the system says no and puts the brakes on. The last time I've had it check me was when it's been a bit warmer (for my winters) around 8deg C with greasy roads, I can get it to wiggle her hips when accelerating hard in a straight line and that was on the drive home from passing the MOT with no advisories so I know the car is in good health and it's just me not driving to the conditions. I'm assuming you attacked the bends at the same speed in Nissan as the 520d? What tyres and pressures is the car running on? Are they the same make/spec front and rear? 40psi is a bit too high IMO. Is the suspension in good health, with no broken springs, shot shocks or worn rubber bushes? Any warning lights? If you have active suspension, is it faulty and thrown a warning? These BMWs have near enough 50:50 weight distribution so make fine driving machines with poise and balance in the bends that you only get with a rear wheel drive chassis so yours is defiantly not right.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

I don't think TIS says to remove the liner ( just to bend it out the way which I didn't fancy doing so I thoufhoit would be easier to remove) but it don't rember struggling to get the strut out from under the wheel arch, unlike my E60. That was a fight and a half! Funny how I struggled with one task that you didn't and vice versa, show everyone's approach is different and sees things differently. Between us we'll sort it.

    Brake pad warning sensor

No ignition on only. When ignition is on you can release the parking brake. Just make sure it’s secure so it doesn’t roll away if manual.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Did you take the wheel arch liner out? That gives a bit more room to move the top of the strut about. Big pry bar like so.

    Brake pad warning sensor

Yes, you need a new pad wear sensor after changing the pads then follow the steps in my link above. It's quite easy.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

I thought you fitted a pair of lowering springs? Obviously not. Good luck with the lower strut bolt. I went up from underneath between the two legs of the lower arm but watching a video on YouTube for rear wheel bearing , the guy used a breaker bar from above with a universal joint.

    poor fuel economy

EGR issue can cripple fuel economy. EGR failing might not always log a fault code though so need to get it inspected.

No it is not! Still you'll manage it ok as didn't you just put new springs on last year as it was just before I did mine. You were able to offer me some good advice.
