I agree, the other one was hideous. My plan is to get period correct plates once all of the important stuff will be done.

If I had some proper space, some steel and a welder I’d have done some proper work on the car considering I’ve had the whole month at my disposal like most of us. instead all I managed was clean the garage she sits and, change the destroyed door mirror with a replacement one from Geoff, and today I performed a compression check; although, still not convinced as I should have turned off fuel supply. results are as follows: (seen from the driver seat) 5)160 |||||||| 1) 150 6)165 |||||||| 2) 160 7)180 |||||||| 3) 140 8)160 |||||||| 4) 140 Sounds to me like a replacement lump is something that I should keep an eye out for. Won’t happen until my wages go up by a couple of quid, so not anytime soon. I also finally got rid of the devils number plate, which is now on a certificate. Need to try and get rid of it efficiently. Original reg back online.

    Coronavirus/Covid19

I have been wearing a mask since the beginning of last week, and I'm constantly being laughed at from whoever sees me, and people in the streets avoid me as soon as they see me. Funny this, as I feel like I'm the only one that's taking precautions. Another thing I find funny is how many people stop me to say that my mask does nothing, to them I always answer that I could have the virus and all I'm trying to do is to be responsible. This country is underestimating how serious this virus is, and it's very sad to say that it will have to take hundreds of human lives before anyone realizes. I hope it won't get to that stage, but looking at how many people passed away back home yesterday (475), I reckon that moment will come sooner rather than later.

Looks like the “cliche” 69 charger that everybody likes. standard 383 and 3 speed 727. If they’re lucky it will have a 8.75 diff (otherwise a 7.25), very likely to be single spinner looking at the low spec of the car. grew up dreaming about owning a general lee. Still in my wishlist but I learned how mediocre chargers can be (like any other American muscle car) in normal conditions (ie not sliding on a Rally stage) tired of seeing general lee replicas though, I think they look cool in black or blue. the best engine for them is a hot 383, since factory 426s would cost like a 458 Italia! sorry I’m a muscle car nerd.

This was so satisfying to read through. Good work Rich, really envious of your work space and impressed with how deep you are going in your bodywork restoration. keep up the good work, subscribed.

After 7 months it’s time for another house move for the poor old barge, this time back to a cozy garage where at least she will be dry stored ! during its time outside I managed to do just some little jobs like swapping the wheels over and sealing the backbox properly, but it’s a long way from being done. unfortunately storm Dennis left a scar on the old E34, when the wind was so wild to make a 1ton hedge cutter brake free from its tie down point. she lost a wing mirror and 3 panels got a good whack really upset about it, specially after paying £100 monthly to store the car in the yard. the landlord would have none of it, just bad luck sorry, I ain’t paying for it. i now need a mirror, need to wire and paint it. Then the door will have to be repaired, as well as the a pillar. the wing is rotten at the bottom so that was a throwaway anyway. she now snores in the new garage, way too small to do any of the work I want to do in it, the damn thing barely fits in it ! I'm just going straight to swap in a good working unit (or so I was told when i bought it) and hopefully I'll be able to then only swap the outer panels so I won't have to paint it.

A quick trial fit of the flat stars. I like them, I reckon they suit the style of the e34 very well. next up is the dreaded stuck sunroof, and the wiring behind the tailgate. she does get started and moved around regularly now, idle seems to vary in quality quite randomly. love this car, my goal is to have her back on the road for the summer.

    The cheap E60 winter car.

I struggle to classify this as a winter beater even as cheap as it was, considering we’re talking about an E60 5 series that still looks fairly modern to my eyes! good catch! when you can do the work yourself I reckon there’s a unique sense of satisfaction, being able to blend in traffic at a fraction of the price, so well done. i did the same with a £300 Clio dci but got carried away and spent the best part of a grand on it and even used it for track days. speaking of the Clio, may I ask what you’ve used to correct the map on the E60? i have removed kat and egr and saw no obvious improvement. I even bought a flash remap but even that seemed like a waste of £300. It’s an early euro 3 engine with not much in the way of sensors in the exhaust .. well done for the project

thank you ! BBSs are staying, probably as a summer wheel (do not want to deal with corrosion on them once they get refurbed), the flat stars will make an awesome winter beater wheel. They're both individual options for the E34.

.. went absolutely mental with wheels this month. Could not make my mind up on what style of wheels I liked more, and the style 16s came up for sale the moment after I bought the RCs, and I’ve been looking for both for about two years so I couldn’t miss the opportunity. way too many wheels for a car full of holes !!
