  1. Tbh I've only had them a few weeks which for me means about 200 miles so a bit early to tell..
  2. Got khumo on back of mine and quite happy with them. Better than the supposedly premium Dunlop they replaced.
  3. They'll be dated on new cars soon enough too! Car manufacturers need to stop trying (and failing) to be tech companies.
  4. Ooh didn't know you could do that. I'd been happy with my auto wipers until recently when they seem to have gotten lazy. I tried cleaning the sensor but no improvement. Wonder if the adaptations thingie is in ISTA ..

Gearbox service completed at Mackies Glasgow

If I keep mine (lol because I've been saying that for four years already) I'll look to get this done. Nowhere local to me but a mate is an MOT tester so may attempt it myself if I can slip him some beer tokens for ramp time.
  6. I had the sport maxx RFT on the back o' mine and thought they were awful tbh. That's what swayed me toward khumo from dunlop.
  7. I've got 18s and have good year eagle on the front and khumo ps71 on rear. No complaints so far.

F10 535i Rear spring replacement DIY

Nice write up!! For the life of me I didn't notice the hole in the parcel shelf so I used a swivel socket. Haha.
  9. You might be right tbh. I just always thought exhausts were supposed to stay clean. I'm probably behind the times
  10. N55 gets a sooty exhaust - quickly or takes ages? N53 stays fairly clean inside unless there is something wrong. At least a few hundred miles and it'll stay shiney inside. I've looked at a few m5s and they all seem to have sooty exhausts too. Maybe it's a turbo thing.
  11. Same here on my 2012. The black Chrome is wearing off though.
  12. Hmm good idea! Didn't think of that. Will give it a go.
  13. Mate you'll need a "bendy socket thing" to get at those strut top bolts. Oh and top tip mark the top hat alignment before you disassemble so you don't make the same mistake I made and have to put the strut in and out 3 times or whatever it was!
  14. Like that - where did you get those? Might do same to mine.
  15. I've done it before so the paint was pretty good already. Just a quick going over - hour or so,focusing on the worst spots rear valance, bonnet, boot lid, side sills, front apron, wings behind the front wheels, rear bumper behind rear wheels, roof, and all four doors. Did the windows too.
  16. Honestly wondering that, which is why I mentioned it I clayed the paint and its super smoooooooth.
  17. Since replacing my rear RFT Dunlop tyres with Khumo, and I also washed my car properly, it's now getting better MPG. Seems crazy but I'm easily hitting 39mpg on a decent run now, and today it even hit 40 momentarily before I got stuck in traffic and ended up on 37.2mpg. Not one for MPG stats normally but I've never seen such numbers in the four years I've had this car. I've not slowed down either 3.0 n53 engine 272ps.

F10 nearside scuttle drain point clean out.

Yeah wondered if that was what they were and hoped not! Sat in crud! The f10 brake lines are known to fail MOT for rusting so I'd be coating those in grease or similar...

F10 nearside scuttle drain point clean out.

Nice write up!! Might check mine tomorrow. What's the metal thing with the four things poking out of it in your fifth photo? It looks like a silver metal block with four bolts?
  20. Paint on the mating face is only likely to be an issue from preventing the wheel seating properly. If there really is a paint of 2mm thick that can insulate enough to keep heat in to warp a disc please let me know the make - I'll insulate my roof with it

    530i LCI - Low MPG

F10 n53 here and agree that low 20's around town should be easy but I'd also say that I regularly see 14-15mpg if I do ridiculously short trips often, like 1 mile drive stop for a while then drive back so the engine is stone cold, like when I pick the kids up. OTOH I just got 39.2mpg on a very fast run from cardiff to Heathrow. Average speed was very close to 70mph. What's your MPG like on a decent run? NOx sensor will affect MPG big time but presumably you see no codes for that?

    Water paths. Nearside engine bay

I had my rear wheel liner out to do the spring (unnecessarily) and it wasn't too bad a job to get out. Bitch getting back in mind. I was surprised how much crud and cobwebs were behind it! Worth doing every now and then I think, as in every few years if the car is a keeper (does anyone keep cars these days?)
