I’m not one for washing cars really, but I do
enjoy the results. This is my 19 plate 530e. Changed the front grills to gloss black which I think finish her off now shes clean.

When the weather clears up a bit, I’ll spend some time claying, polishing and sealing her.

Nothing fancy this time though, just a pressure rinse, cleaned wheels/tyres, washed and dried using Meguiars last touch as a drying aid. Tyres dressed with Zaino Z16.

Gave it a good wash today; it needed it

This is the application stage of the Autoglym Polar Seal; you can see how it starts to bead with it just being applied then rinsed off.

It does a great job IMO; I re-coat it once every 4-5 washes usually...

Uau, Andrew, I must have missed that above we were talking about engine outputs and thank you for pointing out that BMW engine is more powerful than fancy Toyota, I think BMW engine is more powerful than anything in its class or used to be, but hey, good knowledge of exact engine outputs.
I was just sharing my thoughts from my experience, but if you do not want any input from the guy who owns another car brand (at the moment), go ahead - exclude me from the forum, you are admin afterall, right?

I put the kiddie seats back in.

I had taken them out prior to the MOT to avoid the advisory of "unable to check rear seat belts due to child seat being fitted".

Finally collected  the car from the garage following the MOT and remap. I'd also asked them to change the brake fluid while they had the car. The guy doing the remap apparently had difficulty accessing the files on the car and they ran out of time to finish the other jobs yesterday before I needed to be on my way to work so I had to use Mrs CPs F20. I always enjoy a drive in that. It's a good little car but makes me appreciate the F11 all the more when I get back in it. After the remap it's going really well. While it was previously smooth and quick enough it is now even smoother and plenty more than quick enough with no apparent issues. It'll be interesting to see how the mpg is affected. That'll become clearer once the initial enthusiasm wears off and I've gone through a couple of tanks of diesel but for now the drivebility is much improved and the brake pedal feels a lot firmer with fresh fluid behind it so I'm happy.

Oh and it passed the MOT with no advisories which is always nice. Just need to tax it and that's it for another year.

No Rupert, front wheel drive only. 4x4 not really worth the penalty you pay in weight, fuel economy and specialist parts.

Although we live near Inverness, we have never not been able to move around because of snow. We found when we had our E46 on winter tyres, that it was better than a lot of 4x4s on normal ones.

So - Mrs Calypso’s 2010 Ford Kuga recently passed its MOT, but with an advisory due to a small leak of exhaust gases from the flexi pipe. Apparently - according to anyone I took the car for a quote - this is a labour intensive thing to replace. Subframe down etc. To add to the pain, the rest of the exhaust, while gas tight, is pretty rusty and needs replacing - so all in, about £1300.  It’s also needing some bushes at the rear, a timing belt replaced, and within a couple of thousand miles, front brakes. Easy £2500 all in. The car is worth £2700.

    SO

We traded it in for this - a 2015 Hyundai ix35.  We got a great deal, it costs buttons per month, it’s cheaper to tax, insure etc. Some nice features too - heated front AND rear seats anyone?

the Koreans really seem to have their act together!  FSH, full major service just done, and nothing obvious needing attention for a long time.

Mine is regestered 4 of march 2013.
Had 2 owners and last one had it for over 5 years, older chap,so hopefuly was not racing it,but then i am bit worried how intake looks, dpf etc. It comes with 12 months bmw warranty,so should be ok.
Only thing i found is both rear doors,at the top corner by the front doors have slight, maby 5mmx5mm paint bubbling. Showed that to they sales manager and they said that it will be sorted by them after new year,so all good. Tried to haggle on price, but they would not move even 10 pounds, best i managed is full tank of diesel. Sales bloke said it was kind off sold, they had deposit, but guy couldnt get finance and because i paid cash they sold it to me. I thought that i am only crazy person willing to pay 15500k for almost 8 year old car,but appears not. Would have liked for it to be lci and have power boot lid,but it is still nice car with head up,adaptive drive, pro nav, sports auto transmission, visibility package, and some other bits i forgot.

My average trips are very short and in town and I hear phev cars perform better in city traffic.

Plus I really like idea about £0 road tax hehe. Also looking at Merc C350e, this has a softer suspension but bmw seems a better drive (according to reviews) I haven’t driven either yet

Picking up a 530e X-Drive in black next week Monday.  Coming from a Range Rover Sport P400e Autobiography, and before that 2 RRS, Mazda 3, Alfa Romeo Giulietta and a Subaru WRX
Would have loved to keep the RRS P400e but daughter is passing her driving test and turning 18 so will need a runaround, and the purse strings couldn't stretch so far.

530e registered in September 2019, has done 11000km.
This will be my first BMW.  so will be scouring the forums for tips and tricks, and first effort will be seeing if Android Auto can be added. It has Car Play, in the wireless version - which is an improvement of the RRS' wired version.

    cheers

    Hi, thanks for a reply.
I am expecting a warning on a dash as well, as long as it's not a sound warning while I am driving I will be fine.

Picked it up this morning, very pleased. Nice and quiet, deceptively quick.

Will take me ages to suss out all the setup options and get the seat just right!

Was worried about the lack of adaptive suspension but it's fine on the 19s - not sure I'd want the 20s without it though.

Looking forward to getting some miles in.
