    Diversity Antenna??

I also did the same as you with the key fob .. ie replacing the battery .. when the AA came out to try amd get me into the car when the door lock was spinning , they had a device that was able to check if the key fob was sending out a signal ... and it was ... but still not opening the doors , tbh ..i still have not got to the bottom of it myself , so ill keep an eye on your thread to see if you or anyone else has a solution .. Diversity Antenna??

Hi , double check the wiring around the hinge areas , lhs & rhs , i had the same issue and found 2 broken wires one on each side , a thick brown one on the lhs , and one on the rhs .. i managed to solder it and that fixed the heated rear window and also the radio issue and saved me £700 + vat on a garage replacing the looms , btw my cd player was still working but the radio was not at the time . Also be extremely careful using your key all the time to unlock your door ,as the barrel is very weak ,and the car is not designed to use the key all of the time to unlock the doors , i believe its designed that way to stop thieves breaking into it .. and when it breaks and your key spins around you WILL need a locksmith to drill out the barrel to gain access to your car . I know from experience [emoji21] all the dead locks kick in ! and even if you can get something through a gap in the windows to try and open the doors .. they wont !!! For the time being i would advise that when you take your keys out of the ignition when you arrive at you destination .. and "everyone else" is out of the car . lock all your doors using the button on your center console ... and then... open the drivers door to get out !! .. Yes the drivers door will be left unlocked ! But .... it will prevent the car automatically locking all doors during sleep mode .... and you wont get locked out of it WHEN not if your barrel breaks . Good luck , and please dont get locked out like i did ...its a pita ..lol Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

    Break in optical loop

Have you tried one of these attached to the module in the boot floor ? You will lose bluetooth though , but cd radio will work fine . Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122668864708 Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  5. I've been told that sometimes you will start getting random electronic issues if it is not done , I'll be getting it done anyway now ..just in case . I didnt mention in my post that the remote locking started mysteriously working again after the main battery had been disconnected.. before failing again and leaving me locked out [emoji21] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  6. Also the key was tested and is giving out a good signal . I have a tiny feeling that the central locking thing could have something to do with me NOT coding my battery when I installed a new one a while back [emoji21] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  7. I didn't need to show any paperwork , probably because the car was outside my house and the AA guy recommended him /called him Initially Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  9. First of all THANKYOU to all of you that posted on this thread. I tried almost everything apart from drilling a hole behind the rear number plate . I was able to get a couple of long lengths of plastic strap through the door frame and hook onto the door handle.. even though I managed to pull on it . It would not open . I called the AA out and they wedged the door open slightly, and used a hand pumped air bag, to open it enough to get a metal rod to try the door handles and also the central locking button on the dash. Still no joy as it now seems like the dead locks had activated [emoji21] Next stop was auto locksmith , and he had to drill the lock out [emoji21].. I am now waiting for a replacement lock to be fitted but at least I can use the car ... what a nightmare!! .. I could of avoided all of this if I had taken action earlier . I hope someone can learn from my mistake and you all now know how hard these cats are to break into ..lol Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  10. Yep if I could, there is a latch on the inside that will open the boot lid once the glass lid is opened Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  11. Does anyone know of a safety feature if a key was left in the boot on the e61 ? Just thinking I could simulate that by holding the key on the out side ? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  12. I am contemplating drilling a hole in the boot lid behind the number plate , I've seen a YouTube video of it done on a 7 series , but ... I would need to work out the exact location of the latch to pull on [emoji848] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  13. Car battery is good , new battery in key fob , its possibly the diversity antenna although it was a new one approx 3 years ago , the radio still works though [emoji848] I had the car washed yesterday and we had heavy rain today , the remote locking/unlocking stopped working for a couple of weeks , then mysteriously started working after the main battery was disconnected /reconnected while a starter motor issue was worked on . It has been fine for about 6 weeks, I drove the car this morning then came home , when I went to pick my son up from school this afternoon , It would not open [emoji848] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  14. Looks like I'll have to try that after I get the bus home after work [emoji34] .. I. Not a happy chap right now Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
