So, the donor car for the bodykit has turned up. I will also have the steering wheel too. Any other suggestions as to what I may want to transfer ?! The rest is going via ebay etc as I want to get the rusty shell gone asap...

I spoke to my painter earlier and have sorted a deal to paint the M535i kit silver after christmas is out of the way
-
I have no idea at this point to be honest !

Very good point !!!, Thanks for pointing that out . However, they are still very rusty. I have just purchased a complete M535i which has been sat around for years with the head removed/sat in the boot. I will break that car and keep the steering wheel/bumpers etc for this car and have them painted. I like the sport seats but they are a beige colour which I am also unsure about. Such a shame it was not black or red leather ! I cannot make my mind up about using the wheel spats though ?

The att to detail on this E28 is brilliant ! Should look as good as new The e21 also had a lot of things which needed moving, including the brake linkage/servo etc. It was not an easy job but well worth the effort ! Before - http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8123/8641681800_57691756fb_c.jpg

No way ! E28 twins I am just in the midst of purchasing an M535i (non runner) and will take the kit and steering wheel etc from it. I agree - the wheels are nice but could do with being 16/17's
-
Nice ! Our cars are twins lol

Thanks, I am not too keen on the blue interior if honest but I can live with it ! I hope it is dolphin grey - I like that colour alot, but it seems a lot lighter than my dolphin grey E30. I will check tomorrow morning

Well, after a friend having an E28 520i a couple of years ago I have had a soft spot for these cars. His had an M50B25 and I was lucky enough to drive it around the Nurburgring which was awesome . Anyway, not too long ago this one came up for sale locally. To be honest I have various projects and things to do already, but I could not let this one slip through the net. It currently is a non-runner (I dont even know why, and dont really care !). But I have a known good engine sat here and a two post ramp, so will just change it and clean things up etc as I go. I think (correct me if I am wrong !) it is Polaris Metallic ? The non standard parts It has seem to be; 15" ACS alloys A stainless exhaust. (actually looks of half decent quality - may just change the tip for something more subtle) So..., the plan is; Remove the M20B20engine When the engine is out I will steam clean the bay and check for any rust. In fact, the whole car will get a good old clean up at this point while the presuure washer is out !. On the replacement M20B20 engine there will be; New spark plugs Cam belt/tensioner Water pump Thermostat Oil and Filter New alternator/steering belts Valve clearances will be done while I am there, as will a fuel filter and new coolant/steering fluid etc of course... I need to replace the bumpers as the chrome is wrecked, either with a complete M535i kit, or some replacement "good condition" chrome bumpers. The external black plastic grilles etc all need repainting in satin black. The interior needs a massive valet first. I have sourced an Mtec 1 steering wheel. The gearknob/gaiter will be replaced and that nasty looking stereo has to go for sure !. The tow bar will be removed. The brakes will be checked over, and any worn parts will be replaced. I may even clean up and paint the calipers silver. When all is well and the car is running like a dream, I may fit a set of lowering springs but this is a low priority job !. Will
