  1. I have a few bits which are redundant now that I have sold my M5, please see below. Let me know if interested and I'll work out postage costs. Genuine used Bosch MAF's (part no. 0280 217 533). Working very well when removed, £35 each / £60 pair. K&N Air Filters x2. Excellent condition (E39 M5 fitment part no. 33 2142) £45 pair posted. Nearside Kidney Grille. Excellent condition, chrome surround and fins. £25 posted. Offside (driver's) sold. Nearside rear sill cover. Has been repaired so no guarantee of longevity but looks tidy. £10 posted.

    New e61 owner

33mpg in a 525d might be right with a heavy right foot, for mixed driving my 530d averages 29 when really pedalling but will sit at 39-40 when Miss Daisy is driving.

    Black shadowline trim stained

Agressive detergents seem to be the issue here, possibly like what the local hand car wash guys use. I did a test ages ago, I seem to remember that G3 worked well, which is a mild cutting agent. I wouldn't want to use it too often, but that and a proper cleaning regime should suffice. I need to do mine when I get time.

    E61 buyers guide??

If you have to have an auto (most cars probably are) the SAT auto/manual is a decent halfway house.

Yes, maybe that was why I never got it done!

    E39 M5 various - parts for sale

I can't remember to be honest mate! I did buy a spare bumper when I bought the car and did use spares from that over the course of time, it was probably left over. If you put your ear to the sensors you'll hear them clicking, if you can't the sensor is dead.

    E39 M5 various - parts for sale

    Sold items/prices updated.
  9. I have sold my M5 so no longer require these, which were my winter wheels. They're genuine BMW wheels in very presentable condition as you can see on the photos. Staggered fitment, all straight withn no buckles or repairs. £250 collected or £280 delivered.

    Sorry, now sold.
  11. Pair of aftermarket (Depo) headlamps for sale. Excellent condition, working perfectly when removed from my M5 to fit xenon headlamps. One or two LED bulbs on the halo of one have failed, as far as I know these are easy to replace. Come complete with Hella mounting brackets as can be seen on photo's, note that one lug on one mounting bracket is broken so these are just a bonus with the sale - you'll probably use your own anyway. It held the light fine for me for 4 years. £100 collected, add £20 for postage.
  12. Hi all, I just bought an updated disc which won't work in my drive. The car is a 2008 530d with Pro Nav. I wonder if anyone can advise whether it's likely to be a read issue with the laser? It's a genuine disc says the eBay seller (!) and to be fair he has 100% positive feedback over 3000 reviews - for £10 I'm a bit dubious! When I swapped the old disc (2008) for the new one I did get a message onscreen to switch the system off and leave for 5 mins but then I get an 'insert disc' message. The seller said that old drives sometimes struggle with the bigger amount of (compressed?) data on updated maps but did send me a second disc. Unfortunately I get the same result as the first. Does his response re: old drives ring true? And I wonder if anyone might lend me a newer disc than my working 2008 version to try out?

New Sat Nav disc not working

Does anyone fancy helping out? A working eBay special is what I'm after, possibly one that's sitting in a drawer that someone's swapped for a newer version? Obvs I'll cover postage and return the disc etc. The seller is thinks that the DVD drive is probably aging and weak but as my old Navteq disc works fine I'm not so sure. His service has been great so far and he has offered to refund the cost but I want to know that if I buy another disc elsewhere it stands a good chance to work....
  14. I never got around to buying my nav disc and edd-jedi's eBay link is now dead. Any tips on sellers for these please? E61 CCC Professional DVD based nav by the way....

    Front suspension wear

The E6* M Sport ride as standard is shocking, BMW clearly engineered a hard ride for the masses who think hard = sporty. Do you have runflats fitted?

    Front suspension wear

Happy days then, is there no increase in harshness over OEM? I'm planning to refresh a few suspension bits but it's never ideal to end up with a 50/50 mix of OEM rubber and PU bushes fighting each other.....it's a slippery slope!

Is this the same as a 'traction control arm'?

    Front suspension wear

It depends on the bush product I guess. When I replaced my 350z bushes with PU the recommendation was for Superpro as the Powerflex option was considered too hard. The result was perfect, massively improved control with no NVH penalty. Has anyone tried Superpro on the E6*? If they even have an E6* option that is.....
  19. Hi, my spare fob is playing up. The remote locking / unlocking doesn't work (I can hear door locks/solenoids engaging) but it does start the car. It isn't comfort locking and I did try charging it in the slot, but as it is talking to the car I assume battery is ok? Any ideas?
  20. I did recode my E39 spare key which was a cinch but i can't find a DIY guide for the E60/61.
  21. Yes, the other remote is perfect. It can only be an issue with the way the remote talks to the car, I can't really see how a low charge could give different results each time - surely the car should either unlock or not?
  22. When I used the keyfob to lock/unlock I could hear the car locks (all) working but the door pins don't pop up and I can't get in the car. Weirdly though, after I'd used the key the start and drive the car today, I tried to lock it using the fob and the door pins did pop up......then went straight back down. Maybe it's improving with a charge so I'll see how it goes after some use.

    e39 M5 Gearbox - Do I need detents?

Alex, if you do want the improve the throw of the gear lever I highly recommend swapping the standard knob for the F10 M5 version. Looks totally standard and illuminates but is slightly shorter and looks nicer than the awful standard knob. No messing with the lever itself either, just a bit of work swapping the the old gator back on.
