    MOT + Catless Downpipe

Hi Andrew Biden’s Beast was spotted at BP garage near the hotel he was staying in and the driver couldnt believe the price of gasoline at £1.45/ltr or £5.5 per US gallon when only getting 8mpg https://twitter.com/garethmackie/status/1455288863094628355?s=21

    Anti-freeze.

Ps i spent a couple of winters in oxford and they were a lot colder than scotland so no worries there

    Anti-freeze.

Yes of course even undiluted wont do any harm - the 50/50 is spec but going stronger is no issue and it will mix quickly 50/50 will protect to -40degC

    Anti-freeze.

Hi qprdude 535i Andrew is spot on re genuine BMW anti freeze. System is sealed and can be topped up if necessary from the cap on the expansion tank ( when cold ) - Coolant was originally a blue green G48 colour ( BASF G48 Glysantin ) in a mix ratio of 50/50. Recently bought several 1.5ltr bottles of undiluted from a stealer at approx £9 each the Bmw part number is now 83512355290 superceeding 83192211191 Previously had bought the original g48 ( when purchased a couple of years ago, but it did not say what was in bottle, just Anti-freeze and anti-corrosive for radiators free from nitrite. However BMW label now refers to it as BMW LIFETIME COOLANT 87. comparing contents its exactly the same G48 coolant. andrew and I changed my thermostat on my 09 E87LCI 116i N43 with approx 7ltrs of coolant so 3 bottles gave me enough added with distilled water. ( or clean scottish tap water ) BASF G48 pre mixed in 5ltr bottles can also be bought from motor factors / garage forecourts as: Comma G48 but to be honest the price is about the same as the stealers. any questions ask vpcaptain
  5. I can vouch too what 535 Andrew said in that I also bought a foxwell ( lower model ) the NT510 elite with the same bmw software and it has paid for itself three times over in diagnosing my 59 plate 116i N43, it can do most of the things that bmw software can do without worrying about crashing your dme etc. leave the pirate software alone - too much grief

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

No the ‘weegies’ would take the Q3 for a ram raid. Not letting them take the 1er

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Exactly Boba the tip gaps are totally different as the N43 engine uses piezo ignition and the specified NGK plug has a gap of around 1.2mm to the Bosch 0.9mm so amazed the engine ran without a misfire.

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

Ps there the nox sensor, the thermostat, new coolant and bleed and then the front end drive belts pulleys etc, finally finish off with new front discs & pads, and another round of bleeding

What did you do to your F07/F10/F11 today?

It’s on the back of the engine 3 new o rings required on refitting according to TIS, so a trip to the stealer for those 24 and 25mm.

If cleaning the egr valve doesn’t improve matters will price up a new one. Approx £115

Thanks andrew, appreciate the second opinion on the welded in plugs, turned out the Indy had fitted Bosch ZGR6STE2 which are not approved by BMW only the NGKZKBR7A-HTU. Amazed the Bosch ones even worked to be honest. car pulls better for first 5-10 mins but then stutters again with the dreaded NOX sensor looking as though it’s not functioning correctly and the car gets stuck in rich homogenous operation mode.
  15. Hi Guys / Girls, recently bought an 59 plate E87 LCI 116i with N43B20A engine and it’s ran smoothly until I bought a Foxwell NT510 and scanned for codes:- It’s picked up the NOX sensor codes listed 2AF2 Nitrogen-Oxide Sensor Lambda Linear, 2AF4 - Nitrogen-Oxide Sensor Electric, 2AF9 Nitrogen-Oxide Sensor NOX Signal Coast mode check and 30DA - DME Nitrogen-Oxide Sensor Signal. I cleared the codes and drove 350 mile trip but noticed that at idle the engine was running roughly and with a little bit of blow back after pressing the accel pedal. Now I know I need to replace the NOX sensor - a genuine one from BMW branded Continental can be purchased from a reputable seller online for £250-300, avoiding the Chinese fakes at £100 ( bad spelling and welding on the sensor near the nut ) Problem is I don’t mind swapping out the failed sensor with a new one but read that you have to use INPA to code the new sensor and reset adaptions etc for both the NOX sensor and the NOX Catalytic convertor. ( which possibly results in the engine running rough while it learns the new adaptions )I’ve also read on the NOXEM website bimmerprofs that if you have left it too long after having the original NOX sensor fail, simply replacing the NOX sensor is a waste of time as the NOX Cat will be ruined ? Also living just out of Glasgow has anyone got a reputable bmw Indy who I can trust to carry out the coding and or fitting ? ( would ideally want some kind of warranty that if they supply and fit they are using a genuine part and not a fake Chinese one ) Thanks for any help Cheers

    Private Reg question Re SORN

    Yeah Murphy’s Law
  22. Hi all, I’ve just bought an E87 LCI 1.6 2009 as a summer project to work on and have taxed and insured it but I’m looking to SORN it for a couple of months to work on the car; timing chain change, serpentine belt and pulleys etc before putting it back on the road. I’ve also got a private reg on a retention certificate. Question is are there any advantages in putting the reg on now while it’s taxed ( insurance company will no doubt charge admin fee. Or do I take the car off the road SORN it and then uninsure it while it’s off road and then put the new plate on while it’s on SORN ? any suggestions appreciated Rob
