New Year (2013) e39 Paint Colour Poll

Any pics Clavurion? I missed the purchase of a stunning Messing Metallic e39 M5 a few years ago and still think its one of the most unusual, stunning colours from the individual range. C.

    Dreaded E39 rust

In 5 years you're sure to know the car well and like most things you have to maintain them to get the best from them. Changing would be a bit of a lottery with the cars out there. You could end up with a good car, however you could equally end up with a money pit. She's served you well so why not give her a treat and spend some cash on preventative maintenance. You could always change the look with a different set of alloys, a window tint or steering wheel re-cover if you feel like a small change would help. C.

    Dreaded E39 rust

It must be all the salt in the air round your part of the country... Boom boom... Joking aside, if the car is mechanically good and you know it well then i'd spend the money on getting the bodywork rectified come spring. There's probably a few area's un-noticed once a thorough check is done and providing your bodyshop does good preventive measures then you should have no worries for the coming years. Better the devil you know... C.

    e39 530i Sport Prices...

Cheers Neil A and WEZ E39. It does seem that a certain amount of risk is involved when buying an e39. Its good to see enthusiasts maintaining and addressing common faults, however not so good that most of the owners don't feel like selling anytime soon. Its been a while since my last e39 and i've had many more modern cars since, its only recently that i've realised what a great and well built allrounder this car is... hence i'll take my time finding a good example (fingers crossed). Advice for potential new owner

I recently had an 08 Plate LCI 530D with a few nice options and would recommed the Sports Auto Box (Flappy Paddles) which IMO is a nice compromise over manual. The 6 Cylinder Diesels suit and work very well with the Sports Auto Box, definately try one if you can find one. Good luck with the search. C.

Prank call to a BMW dealership

    I'm crying here...
  14. Hi all, I'm currently looking around for a nicely optioned e39 530i/530d Sport and these models seem to be well specified, although they do command a premium... Does anyone have any production no's and know of any option differences apart from the obvious external paint & interior leather colours, as i'm sorely tempted by the odd one or two for sale at this time. Its a shame most of these cars are south of the border however... Thanks in advance and looking forward to impending ownership. C.

e39 Champagne II or Aegean Blue Edition

I'm swaying towards the Aegean myself as I had a Black e39 a few years ago and fancy an alternative colour. There still seems to be a lack of choice out there at the moment which doesn't help the search... Looking forward to the pics of the Silver Grey Leather with Black Lower accents as I think this may be the way to go to add a nice bit of contrast. C.

e39 Champagne II or Aegean Blue Edition

There doesn't seem to be much consistency regarding independent dealer pricing for the e39 530i/530d Sports. Diesel seem to command a premium, however with the mileage I am going or not going to do I would definately prefer a Petrol car for the added refinement. Very few private cars around at the moment which is a shame. I guess i'll have to endure the relentless sales pitch offered by the Trade, trying to convince me that their car is competitively priced... Does anyone have any Trade or Glass' guide values on MY01/02/03 530i Sports by any chance...? C.

e39 Champagne II or Aegean Blue Edition

Looking at the Aegean Edition I think I full Carpet swap for Black & Black Overmats would really help the interior IMO, particularly as the Dash Top and Door Cappings are Black. Will have a better idea when I start viewings next week. C.

e39 Champagne II or Aegean Blue Edition

Thanks for the production figures/info gar525i. I agree with the Champagne cars interior, however I do prefer the Aegean Blue cars exterior paint colour... Typical...! I used to have a Carbon/Caramel e39 M5 a few years ago and fancy a change from Black, however condition and service history will prove more important pre-purchase. C.

Is that the private car up for £4250? I've been through Pistonheads, Autotrader and Ebay and shortlisted cars to look at next week... C.

    Pricing help required...

Its been a few months since my e34 went and I have a few items left over and would like enthusiasts/owners input into where best to advertise and at what price. I have two full sets (5) of OEM BBS 15" Wheels and Tyres. One set in very good condition with an almost new set of matching tyres and the other in good condition with 50% worn tyres. All wheels have the OEM Centre Caps which could benefit from new BMW Stickers/Logo's. I also have a set of 15" Winter Tyres, Avon from memory. x2 as new and x2 approx 50% worn. I'm not fishing for buyers but would like an honest opinion on current prices as there doesn't seem to be many spares around for the e34 outside the usual BMW Breakers. Thanks in advance. C.
