    F10 525d new battery registering

Thanks for your replies. Yes £200 Halfords and similar places.... £90 online. I think I'll carry on for a while longer. Thanks again
  3. Hi I had new alternator fitted the other day and as I've never changed the battery in the 5 years since I've owned the car I'm thinking it's time I do it. Nothing wrong with it and it's running at 14.7 on the hidden menu. If I swap it with a new one will the new one still need registering (even though the current one is still running efficiently) I know it does need doing especially if current battery is weak otherwise IBS will think the old battery is still installed) Its giving me IBS too (irritable bowel syndrome) Any advise will be greatly appreciated

    F10 n57 boot/bonnet badge

Cheers I know the sizes are different but I'm just not sure whether they're held with just adhesive or have the prongs. Wanted to change them but dont fancy ordering them only to find they're not the correct sort. Dont wanna go down the route of sticking decals on them! Thanks for your help
  5. Hi Does anyone know whether the bonnet and boot/trunk badge on 2010 f10 is held by adhesive or has prongs that go into the 2 holes? Thanks

    F10 n57 oil filter O ring

All sorted (I hope) Thanks for all your help and feedback I had to use a pick and hook set to remove the O ring on the housing as it was very tight using a set from ebay £4. Nice rubber handles

    F10 n57 oil filter O ring

There was zero leak until I changed oil and then put oil filter cap on without the gasket that fits on the upper end of inside the cap. The O ring on the housing itself I did not notice until you posted. (I'm so used to to the o ring being on the outside of the threaded filter cap) So as expected there was oil leak initially but after installing the 1st gasket i couldnt remove the O ring on the housing (quiet tight) I've ordered some gasket removal hooks. To be honest it's only because the idrive now says the oil is not "full" yet when I checked the dipstick it's perfect! ( so probably not leaking anymore plus the fact the oil cap has no more oil around it but I'll keep an eye on the oil level using the dipstick for next few days until the tools arrive) Thanks. I'll let you know how it turns out (I should have realised because the oil filter had two 0 rings when I'm only used to 1! But like a fool I couldnt even find where to put even 1 0 ring! )

    F10 n57 oil filter O ring

Hi AGAIN sorry to keep bothering everyone with such a trivial matter but there is still a bit of a leak so I tried to remove the 0 ring but it's simply to tight. I've got a bit of a hooked sharp point at the end of my small converted screwdriver and I simply cant do it! Am I missing something here? I feel like a failure! Lol Might just take it to my local garage and ask them to fo it for a donation !!! But before I do I've just ordered a set of pick & hook tools. For the sake of £4 I thought I'll give that a go first. Should arrive in 2-3 days time . In the meantime I'll keep soiling my drive with oil and my boxers with the brown stuff whenever the dash goes "ping"

    F10 n57 oil filter O ring

Thanks.. all sorted now...(I think) I tried removing the O ring on the housing but it seemed very tight and was about to use my small screw driver where I had previously made a small curl at the end to make removal easier when suddenly had to rush out somewhere so i just screwed the filter cap back on and suddenly it all seemed fine. Appears to be no more leaks.. I'm sure I closed it properly and torqued it at 25 the previous time too. Anyway fingers crossed no more leaks. If it does then I'll change that o ring. I'll check the oil level every day for the next few days. Cheers

    F10 n57 oil filter O ring

I've just had a quick look but as it's dark I'll do it tomorrow. I haven't changed the o ring on housing! I'm so used to changing it when its attached to the actual cap! Maybe that's why its leaking. I made sure I torqued it at 25nm (or whatever the units are) so replacing the gasket seems the only solution. I've double checked everything else. Tomorrow I better be able to sort it!

    F10 n57 oil filter O ring

I've just done that and I have oil leaking. I've double checked that I've put that gasket in correctly and tightened the cap to the correct torque. I has 2 gaskets in my filter pack. 1 is the one I've just put in as you said but the other one which I used to put on the cap in my e60 I dont know what to do with that. Am I missing something here?? Someone help!
