1. Enjoying my new (to me) 530i so far. Have had an E90 335i and E91 330i previously and the step up in refinement is really significant. This is generally a good thing but I am a bit disappointed in the exhaust note, or lack of it more precisely. Even windows down it is barely audible. My previous cars both had the respective BMW OEM performance exhausts admittedly, but it seems a strange to own one of the last great straight-six large-ish capacity engines and not be able to hear it! So I'm considering replacing the back box for something that will liberate a little more sound. The aim would be for nothing too aggressive, no motorway drone and subtle appearance (it's an SE-spec family wagon with beige leather after all...). Does anyone have any recommendations? Happy to spend a few hundred quid for the right solution. Doesn't look like BMW did an official version as they did for the E90 series, so I guess I am looking at Eisenmann, Remus, Supersprint and the like? Thanks in advance!

'07 E61 530i - exhaust recommendations

Just bumping this back up to see if anyone has any exhaust recommendations - did the flap mod and it helps bring some additional noise but looking for a little more. Thinking about this Jetex item: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110833233387?epid=1925251970&hash=item19ce2cedeb:g:M4YAAOSwU91abGHi There's an Eisenmann on ebay too but £700 is a bit much!

2011 530i SE E61 with N52?

Thought it was likely an import but MOT history goes back to 2013 so unlikely I would have thought.
4. Bit confused by this? Can anyone shed some light? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-530i-SE-TOURING-85808-MILES-/174760683612?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 looks decent value tbh

2011 530i SE E61 with N52?

What I mean is, didn’t know there were 2011 E61s and should obviously be N53 on the 530i. Perhaps an import?
6. I have a 2007 530i Touring. I've noticed that my air con, despite being regassed in the last 18months, struggles to maintain a cool temperature when in auto mode - seems like hot air is blowing up towards the windscreen despite the a/c set to low. On Max it works fine and is nice and cold. Carly app shows a 9C55 error which seems to be the fogging sensor behind the rear view mirror. My theory is that because this is faulty the car may think that the windscreen is constantly fogging and hence tries to blow hot air onto it whatever the a/c settings (as long as on auto). Would that make sense? Is the cure just to replace the sensor? Anyone had this issue?

Fogging sensor causing erratic a/c?

Good shout - will give that a go! Thanks

Fogging sensor causing erratic a/c?

Yes indeed. But I think what is happening is that the malfunctioning fogging sensor is causing warm air to blow onto the windscreen even when I have the a/c set to a cool temperature, making it impossible to cool the cabin air (despite the dash vents blowing cool air). If that makes sense?

Fogging sensor causing erratic a/c?

Yeah the error has come up previously when in for a service and they said to ignore it but I am pretty sure it is causing some a/c issues now so would like to sort as the weather gets warmer!

11. I owned this car almost 10 years ago. Bought as a one owner car for £11k with 29k miles - just shows how much these cars have appreciated!

Halfords Oil Sale

Thanks chaps - might plump for Magnatec then at that price. One other question - the car has Edge in currently, I guess it would be no issue to top up with Magnatec? (ie. mix the oils) Both 5w30

Halfords Oil Sale

Got a 530i N53 and when I plug the reg into the Halfords site it seems to suggest that Magnatec is not suitable, should be Edge. Is that true? A shame if it is as the Edge is not on the same discount. Even more confusingly, there seems to be two versions of Castrol Edge 5W30 on their site: LL and M specs. The M is coming up as the recommended oil and the LL is deemed not suitable (but is the cheaper of the two annoyingly). Here is the M: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-and-fluids/engine-oil/castrol-edge-5w-30-m-oil-1l-210078.html And the LL: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-and-fluids/engine-oil/castrol-edge-5w30-oil-1-litre-252023.html?istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istFeedId=367c5610-f937-4c81-8609-f84582324cd6&istItemId=xxxtxt&istBid=t Finally, is there a benefit to switching to a thicker oil such as 5W40 on these engines? Keeping in mind that I do low mileage (<5k per year) and a mix of longer and shorter runs. I'm changing the oil every year rather than waiting for the OBC to tell me.

'07 E61 530i - exhaust recommendations

Finally gave this a go with a nylon zip tie as suggested. Nice improvement to the low speed burble, definitely worth a 10 minute fiddle! Thanks again for the suggestion.
15. Lovely car but can’t figure out whether it is genius or madness to set your eBay auction to end mid-afternoon on Boxing Day...
16. Can't be many at that mileage still about - love slate green too! Not sure doing only 1k miles a year since 2006 is necessarily a good thing mind... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-530-3-0i-auto-2001-i-SE-Touring-COLLECTORS-EXAMPLE-1-OWNER-35000-MILES-ONLY/293384140721?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Df686c89b465a47e2a379224b35d3b781%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D7%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D184044354469%26itm%3D293384140721%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A38eb4ba9-22b9-11ea-975d-74dbd180b018%7Cparentrq%3A208a951216f0ac3cd3c3ff7fffaa6d23%7Ciid%3A1
17. I have an LCI 530i SE with electric seats - no lumbar, no heating. I don't find the seats very supportive and would like to fit either SE or sports seats with lumbar or comfort seats (if I can find a set). But just wondering if they would be plug and play without any new wiring harnesses etc. - does anyone know? Also, if the new seats were heated, is it much of a job to retrofit the controls? Thanks for any advice!

530d touring in beige!!

That is a lot of beige! Quite like the exterior colour though and what’s not to like at that price!
19. Worst photos in the world and looks like it would need a tidy up but interesting spec / colour combo, FBMWSH and reasonable price? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201906108864924 The non- working sunroof / potential leaks might put me off though...
20. I know there are always people on the look out for these - nice example but that price is getting into F11 territory: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201905238273088
21. '09 E61 525i manual with later style pro-nav at a good price, decent mileage, history... https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201902014521509
22. OP - Looks like a great example! I've had my '57 LCI E61 530i SE with a manual 'box since October - got to say I'm very happy with it too! Bought it privately from its original elderly owner on 96k. He had it serviced annually at the same BMW specialist (he was 80 miles from the nearest BMW dealer!). Just had engine, gearbox and diff oil changed at a local specialist and they gave it a clean bill of health. It's had some injector work under warranty in the past and so far the N53 has been good as gold. It's a great load lugger with enough performance to be fun when conditions allow. And yet it's not worth much now so I don't worry too much about where I park it or something going wrong.
23. Got this green stuff around the seals of my rear light clusters on my E61. Anyone had the same and had any success with cleaning it?
24. Just spray it into the seal? No toothbrush to work it in?
25. Thanks all, going to give it a go with a toothbrush if I can get in behind the curve of the perspex. An annoying design flaw for sure.
