Thanks chaps - might plump for Magnatec then at that price. One other question - the car has Edge in currently, I guess it would be no issue to top up with Magnatec? (ie. mix the oils) Both 5w30

Got a 530i N53 and when I plug the reg into the Halfords site it seems to suggest that Magnatec is not suitable, should be Edge. Is that true? A shame if it is as the Edge is not on the same discount. Even more confusingly, there seems to be two versions of Castrol Edge 5W30 on their site: LL and M specs. The M is coming up as the recommended oil and the LL is deemed not suitable (but is the cheaper of the two annoyingly). Finally gave this a go with a nylon zip tie as suggested. Nice improvement to the low speed burble, definitely worth a 10 minute fiddle! Thanks again for the suggestion.

I have an LCI 530i SE with electric seats - no lumbar, no heating. I don't find the seats very supportive and would like to fit either SE or sports seats with lumbar or comfort seats (if I can find a set). But just wondering if they would be plug and play without any new wiring harnesses etc. - does anyone know? Also, if the new seats were heated, is it much of a job to retrofit the controls? Thanks for any advice!

OP - Looks like a great example! I've had my '57 LCI E61 530i SE with a manual 'box since October - got to say I'm very happy with it too! Bought it privately from its original elderly owner on 96k. He had it serviced annually at the same BMW specialist (he was 80 miles from the nearest BMW dealer!). Just had engine, gearbox and diff oil changed at a local specialist and they gave it a clean bill of health. It's had some injector work under warranty in the past and so far the N53 has been good as gold. It's a great load lugger with enough performance to be fun when conditions allow. And yet it's not worth much now so I don't worry too much about where I park it or something going wrong. -

Thanks all, going to give it a go with a toothbrush if I can get in behind the curve of the perspex. An annoying design flaw for sure.
