    Guess The Car

New game, not sure if it's been done before tbh, the rules are simple: You post a picture of a car (exterior or interior), can be a full shot or just a bit, badges can be covered up. Clues can be given, it's up to you. If you get one right you post the next one, unless you say "open floor" on your guess, then anyone can do it. Also if it's gone 48 hours without the correct member posting a new car the floor is also open. OK, first one:

  3. Hey guys, I'm not sure if something like this was done before or not, but here goes anyway as I aint done a poll for ages Basically I was thinking the other day, that the E39 will probably be staying until it has at least 125k on the clock, so I just wondered at what mileage gearbox issues have manifested themselves. Feel free to tell your stories on this thread too. You can select multiple answers if you've had more than 1 outcome for 2 E39's..

    Anti-virus/pc security

Been using Windows Defender since getting this PC 18 months ago, had no security issues despite visiting a fair few 'dubious' sites..

    Forum election fun

Yeah it is, I'm on other unrelated-to-cars forums, and the result was more split, actually in one case very similar to how things seem to be panning out in real life.

    best 535 ive seen

Pictures seem to be from 2012 judging from the resto thread on PH. How much is it realistically worth do we think?

Expert advice and thoughts on this E61

What would you replace it with? I feel piano black is a bit boring with a black dash top while aluminium and carbon fibre look brash, and don't clash with the light leather. All my personal opinion of course, it's a highly subjective issue!

    Proper Forum...

I remember a few slightly silly individuals who've joined up here thinking it's a general BMW forum before, wouldn't be surprised if this causes a few more to come crawling out of the woodwork.

    New Audi Q7

Not sure about the grille but I prefer the new one! The old just looked too bloated to me!

    New Top Gear

Though if they were Mark 1 800's they are probably rarer than the cars in the TG special! With regards to the show itself, I have pretty much lost interest now, I've gone from watching every episode, to now just putting it on when I have nothing else to do, the schoolboy humour just doesn't seem that funny to me any more!
  12. Transporter's do seem like quality bits of kit.. but you pay for the privilege!

    Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777

I can see where you're coming from, but most airliner systems are provided with a means to turn them off, in case of an incident where they go haywire and risk causing an accident. Anyway I was convinced that the plane was lying in the ocean somewhere, now I'm not so sure, certainly shows that we still don't have an answer for everything.

E34 Appearance in Films & TV

This one? http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_270328-BMW-525i-Touring-E34-1993.html It was quite a while ago now (Series 3), but I remembered it as soon as I read your post..
  15. Not sure about E39's specifically, but the estate Rover 75 definitely seems as quiet as the saloon, and I've been in plenty of each.

face book, is it just me?

I am on facebook, and I do find it really useful to keep up with friends who live miles away, but then I'm really picky about who I have on there, that's the way to keep it civil.
  17. Not through football, but I did some running the other day and strained a muscle in my groin.. not nice

    Car photography

If either of the cameras have manual settings (Not all cameras do), the best way to learn those is trial and error, or looking at other peoples pictures (search 'BMW 5 Series' on flickr for example). My favourite car picture I've taken is this (not my car lol): 1962 Volvo 122 by Transport Tim, on Flickr I used a shutter speed of 1.6 seconds, aperture 2.7, ISO100, I was resting the camera on my bag, if it'd been taken handheld at those settings, it would have been seriously blurred. I'd suggest having a play around, and if you still aren't happy with the quality, that's the time to find someone else.
  19. Evening, I bought a secondhand laptop as a Christmas present from a private seller on eBay, I did test it for about 5 minutes at the time of purchase, then about the same at home, and nothing seemed amiss, so I wrapped it up, then left the seller a positive feedback ('Perfect transaction from start to finish. Top eBayer.'), as there were no undescribed faults that I could see... So come Christmas day, and I go to set the laptop up after it's unwrapped, and to my horror after about 10 minutes the screen starts flickering and distorting (best described as like a poorly tuned CRT TV), I updated the graphics drivers software, but that didn't help, I left it overnight, then tried troubleshooting again, I didn't remedy the problem, but another has appeared - the laptop gives a 'Battery Critical Low' message and won't power up, despite having been plugged into the charger/AC adapter for two hours! (any ideas with regard to the faults very welcome too!) Now, the laptop and charger were stored safely in a dry cupboard since it's purchase a week earlier, so I don't see how the fault(s) could have just 'developed' in that time. The seller used the term 'fully working' on more than one occasion in the advert, and it was listed as such. Do I have grounds for a refund, or not? If I do, is the fact that I left a positive feedback an issue? Thanks in advance...
  20. Morning all, Couldn't sleep so I had another look at the problem laptop mentioned in this thread - http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/90485-ebay-help-required-do-i-have-a-right-to-a-refund-etc/ - basically I managed to get it powered up (think that may have been my fault somewhere) - and could thus grab a video of the graphics problem:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHP1_IL-EDA I'm going to draft an email to the seller, but if anyone has ideas as to what could be wrong with it I'd like to hear from you? Have updated the graphics drivers, but that's it. TIA

    I want an m3 but........

Isn't the two door E30 known as a 'saloon' though? (For the record, I'd call it a coupe personally)

Not as shit as they were though!!

    A frigging Quasquai!

Problem with the Quashqai is that it's so bloody dull, at least the Juke and the Murano have character, even if they are, erm, aesthetically different.. What about a Freelander?
  24. Looks very dodgy indeed, cars with similar mileage from the same year seem to be around the £10k mark!
