  1. Gold membership required if you want to advertise your car or post a link to your advert - thanks.
  2. The main reason being that I need the money, I have a Golf Gti as a family car - the E28 sale proceeds will go towards paying the mortgage whilst my wife is on maternity leave, and all the paraphernalia that comes with child ownership.... is that the right terminology?
  3. Finally managed to get all the bits which needed doing over the last couple of weeks. Looking great now and fitted new suspension, had iffy bits of bodywork fixed and resprayed. Have to put the car up for sale as I have a child on the way, will be a shame to see it go after getting it how it should be. But needs must, and kids come first, right?
  4. Pray tell: Where did these come from?
  5. Cheers Sam, I went 225 all round, pleased with the back but fronts just seem a bit tall and out of proportion.
  6. This weekend I gave my new e28 some tlc - a full service including new engine and gearbox fluids, brake fluid, and coolant. It also received new spark plugs, oil, fuel and air filter and a very indulgent bath. I also decided to put my new wheels on the car, all the way from Hungary - e34 M5 turbines which I have always had a soft spot for. These are staggered 8&9 and in immaculate condition - these were also treated to some new rubber by way of some Eagle F1 Asym 2's. Albeit I think the profile on the front is too high so may swap in the 225s for 205 or 215 this weekend. I managed to swap out the 'comfort' seats, which were like sitting on a bed of pins if the journey was any longer than 45 minutes. Swapped out for some e28 recaro seats which I sourced on the forum. Interior retrim still up in the air at the moment but a surprisingly close match so I can live with it for the moment. Still yet to fit my bilstein b8's and H&R springs - need to sort some arch modification out first I feel. I also thought about some rear negative camper and suitable top mounts to enable this, but form what I have read it isnt straight forward. Can anyone recommend the best fixed top mounts, front and rear? Also trying to located a whiteline ARB - like hen's teeth apparently. I am lucky enough to have a full ramp 50ft from my garage so it made life much easier, but I am aching a fair bit - reminding me my knees are too shot for a manual gearbox unfortunately.

    87 528i E28 - Manual

    iirc - saturnblau or lapisblau
  8. Went and had a look this evening at the below; http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C766022 Engine seems very good, as does gearbox. Made me realise I really would like my auto to be manual - however, body work is bumped on almost every panel, rear boot sill is rotten and boot is very wet due to the seal having gone. Badly filled arches and touched up around arches too. Engine runs well though, interior in good condition. £5k seems a bit steep even though it is rare.
  9. Now Sold to a forum member.....enjoy!!
  10. Thank you for the offer, and whilst I would love another 5 - the reason for the sale is that the wife wants a smaller car. A Mk5 Golf GTi 5 Door DSG would work.
  11. Unfortunately putting up for sale my 535d Touring, my wife has decided it is too big for her as she hasn't been driving long. I bought it in December with the intention of it being a run it forever family wagon. It is an immaculate car and has the exact specification that I was after, and in my opinion the best colour combination. I looked at a number before buying, anyway I thought I would put it to the forum before the wider market. The overall condition of the car is extremely good, the interior is in very good shape, the previous owner had replaced the bolster to the drivers seat, my only pick-up would be the slight fold in the leather on the drivers seat, there is a small bit of lacquer peel on the steering wheel which I believe is a common side affect. Aside from this the inside of the car is very good. Externally again the car is in very good condition, no bumps or scrapes. The car is regularly cleaned inside and out, properly, not just a wash over. MOT on the car until November. The specification is as follows; Carbon Black Metallic Paint (Very deep blue) Beige Dakota Leather 25/05/2008 91,500 miles Reg - YC08WXM Sport Automatic Transmission Panoramic Glass Sunroof Adaptive Xenon Headlights Fine Wood Trim – Bamboo Grain Anthracite Professional Navigation System Harmon Kardon Pro-Logic 7 Professional hi-fi system Individual Anthracite Roof Lining Individual High –gloss satin chrome Heated Front Sport Seats Full automatic seats – All functions M Sport Package Alarm System Green Stripe Windscreen Tinted windows Full Electric Seat adjustment with Memory Child Seat Isofix Mobile prep business Automatic Air Conditioning Cruise Control with Braking Function Smokers Package (albeit never smoked in) Lane Deviation Warning Bluetooth Voice Input System BMW Online BMW Assist 6 CD Changer M Sport Suspension USB/Audio Interface Headlight Washer System I had some work done under warranty 3 months ago, the list of the work carried out is below. Not all of these parts had failed but I paid extra to have the relevant parts replaced for good measure; Replaced all 6 glow plugs Replaced glow plug module Replaced inlet manifold gaskets Replaced engine breather Replaced turbo vacuum pipes Replaced actuators I am asking £13,500 - I may be able to arrange a warranty for a small extra cost. I can also arrange for card payments (debit/credit) if needed. I think for someone looking for a very clean 535d Touring with a great specification and a very smart interior/exterior combination it is fair money. Feel free to contact me on 07748 784 894 with any questions or to arrange a time to view.

Front e28 Sports or Recaro Seats

Ed, Are they from an e28/era BMW? They look terrible but very appealing at the same time!! Rory
  13. Having recently purchased my 3rd e28 - I am on the hunt for driver and passenger recaro seats that I will be looking to get re-upholstered. If anyone knows of any, I would appreciate hearing about them. I will potentially look at the m-sport seats but Recaro's are top of the list. I am also keen to get members thoughts on retaining original material or whether a retro alternative (think singer porsche interior) would be well received. I am leaning to the second option. On a side note, if there are any recommendations for upholsterers I am also all ears. Many thanks in advance. Rory

    WANTED: e28 528i/535i

After some time away from classic 5's, I am venturing back and I am looking for a lovely car to do it in. Since I sold my last two e28's I can't quite believe how much they have gone up in value, nonetheless, I am looking forward to getting involved again. I would prefer an e28 535i SE as I am not a fan personally of the M body kit, although I have read that these can be removed so if the rest of the car is perfect I will take a view. Ideally perfect or near perfect bodywork, and a good strong engine. It will be a weekend car, rather than a dd, so I would prefer a manual over auto. Ideally not too modified, if at all. I am open to different colours and spec's, so if you have one for sale, you are thinking about selling, or know someone who might be I would be very interested to hear from you. Many thanks in advance, Rory
