    Alloy Corrosion - Warranty?

That does sound reasonable - not a lot different to regular alloys.

DAB Radio - Should This Work In My E39??

Do you think that's a one off job, or every time you change from one DAB frequency to another?

    Alloy Corrosion - Warranty?

Completely agree. I'd actually avoid buying a car with diamond cut/lacquered wheels for this exact reason. Hugely expensive to refurb as well, they're really not practical on real world vehicles.

    Silverstone Auction

Saw this last week. Really enjoy Harry's videos, completely unpretentious and watchable bloke. I always learn plenty from him. If you've not seen it, the Arctic Rolls is particularly well worth watching.

Love Hoovie's Garage, a great series of vids!

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Having not washed it in nearly seven weeks now due to the alternator imploding, celebrated its return this evening with a good spruce up and detail. Lovely evening for it too. Of course, a good few miles were needed afterwards (officer) to dry off all the nooks and crannies! Old meets new outside my local Vines.

    What colour

Find the VIN number on your V5 and enter that into one of the BMW spec decoders on the net. If the name of the one I'm thinking of springs to mind I'll let you know.

Really don't know about that Dennis. The last time we hired a car in the US was in 2017. It was a Chrysler Voyager which was a few months old and the auto transmission was awful. Felt like we were riding in an early 80s Ford Cortina automatic.

What did you do to your E39 today ?

Having sat for six weeks due to the alternator deciding to self destruct back in early April, (and garages being closed due to CV of course), this morning it was recovered to my indie to be sorted!

    E39 Instrument Cluster Repair

Baris at Carphonics in Enfield, North London, is the 'go to' person for this (and a lot more) in the south. He sorted mine out a year or so ago and well worth the (easy) drive up from Gatwick. Get him on 07958 499151, info@carphonics.co.uk. He has a website too.

    E39 540i Sport touring - manual

By the seller's admission, there's a lot to do there. Okay, so it's a manual and a tourer, but seems a big asking price considering everything. Another "M Sport" E39 too...
  18. Lots, wih Dan and myself with two towards that total! Why do some dealers remove or hide the plates for their ads? It just stops a potential buyer from doing a quick mileage and MOT history check - not helpful.

    Rattle can spraying body panels/parts

Dan, as you know, I sprayed my plinth with a few coats of satin black Plasticote. Minor rub down for a key to get first coat to adhere and that was it - perfect finish and as good today as it was 18 months ago when I did it. I think a can of silver Plasticote would have been just as simple and given the same finish. I didn't even laquer it as there is no need.
